From past experience or from locals in Tassy is there certain places to get good seafood .Like on tv i seen oysters at Bruny Island. Dont want to go searching everywhere.

If you are after crays hang around the wharves when the cray boats come in.
Muirs has a good reputation.
Scallops are also available from roadside sellers.

If you tell us when you will be near hobart I can check out some contacts at work. They have their ear to the ground so you can get some good stuff -
cherries, apples, raspberries, another head - anything is possible :D

The below at Bicheno is one of the best deli/butcher shops we have come across. It also sells fresh seafood. But the small goods there are brilliant. :cup: In one of the series of Master Chef when they went to Tasmania the Tasmanian couple went to this shop for their ingredients.
There also was a very good fish and chips shop down the road, towards the beach.

Hi,
if you like very aromatic blue cheese, try Ashgrove cheeses just out of Latrobe.
They also have a good range of 'normal' cheese.
Burnie has an outlet for Lactos cheese, again a good range including some with a bit of 'bite'.
Bruny Island also has a good boutique cheese outlet about 15 minutes from the ferry - thoroughly recommend their range, my favorite from there is a Tom cheese, made in the French tradition.
Dunally has a good outlet for crayfish on the water front on the Western side of the canal just past where you would cross the swing bridge heading towards Port Arthur.
Oatlands has a windmill, and just near that, but on the Main Rd is a bakery that sells my favorite breads - a spelt loaf, or a malt loaf. They are a small loaf, but solid. Slice them thinly, because they are substantial.
The Big Red Cherry Shed is beside the Highway as you leave Devonport heading East - good value.
Rasberry farm on your left as you approach Deloraine heading towards Launceston, again good value and excellent product.
cheers

I recall Muirs restaurant, was an old weatherboard joint which had been converted. A table in each room.
Superb seafood. The bill was more than my weekly wage.
Just as well it was on the house.
Can't recall which year it was, about the time the casino opened.
I believe it is a tad bigger now.

Scallops at the tribanna hotel The best I've ever had the plate was stacked it certainly upped my cholesterol level . Had to go back for lunch the next day for another feed I was as full as a fat ladies undies.

Hi,
Mure's fish place on the wharf in Hobart has upstairs for posh (silver service) and down stairs for cafe style. Both good value for what you get.
Suggest ringing in the order, use the short term parking, grab the tucker and go and have lunch in the Botanical Gardens.
cheers

What is with that?
It's something that in the 7yrs I've been here, I've never understood. That and sauce shouldn't go on a pie, it should go in it!
Oh and cordial doesn't have bubbles, that's soft drink!
And hotdogs.... Why can I only buy crappy Wendy's ones?
