I thought someone in our family could buy my partner a magazine subscription for Christmas but unsure which one? We own a Jayco Eagle and are planning a trip to Cameron corner,Birdsville next year as well as numerous long weeks away (we are in Newcastle NSW). I don't know whether a caravan magazine or a camper trailer magazine is more in style with what we have? Are the camper trailer ones more in tune with dragging a heavy duty box trailer with a tent on heavy 4WD roads or very heavy duty off road vans?
Any ideas?

Just make sure it is not one of the EMG magazines, at least then you are likely to get a decent read without the same regurgetated paid advertising carp being printed over and over in every issue.
Carlisle's new mag is a decent read as is his old Camper Trailer mag (just make sure it is not the EMG caper trailer mag).

Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures is the top of the tree as far as local travel/4wd magazines go.
Only 4 issues a year, but it is truly a coffee table magazine and something to keep, have a look at one in your local newsagent.

Ill throw in a left field suggestion.
RM Williams Outback Magazine.
I have just been given a copy. OK, it is about 10% RM Williams advertising (of its 150 od pages), but I found the articles well written and very interesting. Its a bi monthly, every 2 months. I got the April/May edition, which has a great article on Coopers Creek.
Concentrates on people, history, places and events, rather than vehicles, CT's and products.
I will be looking for the next one to buy myself.
$10.

Are you really set on this? IMHO most mags are poor value for money. Full of advertising just like TV news and paper thin articles. Most of the travel stories are pretty good, but in all honesty you can get just as much travel data from here and other sources.

Carlisle's new mag is my favourite atm. It's really well written and refreshing after thumbing through 4wdAction mags.

anyone got a link for this mag you speak of?

agree.. but I find most articles are not well written..
Many magazines not just 4b/camping are just stories from Joe Public who has never written anything in his life and many are just unreadable..

call me old fashioned, but i still prefer to read my stories in a magazine compared to online.........bit hard to take the PC into the loo (reading room). and if i took my laptop there people would get the wrong idea :-[
My #1 choice is Pat's mag but i do subscribe to 4wd Action and Camper Trailer Touring (EMG mags) i don't mind the millions of adverts that fill them. Haven't bought Carlisles new mag, but his old Camper Trailer Australia mag was a good read.
I buy the On The Road mag from time to time but that is for the DVD
