Title: Randall from Hobart
Post by: Randall on November 20, 2012, 09:59:04 AM
Hi Swaggers,

I thought I'd better post here first.

About 5 years ago I inherited (yes a freebee from a deceased estate) our 1982 Road and Trak Camper. Since then it has seen use in NSW, Vic, SA and of course my home state of Tasmania.

This camper is basic, It doesn't even have a built in bed, but is very capable off road.

So far I have replaced the wheels to match our Delica and replaced the 3 way fridge with an Engel, which we mainly use as a freezer.
The most recent change is the construction of a frame to hold a foxwing awning as well as the trailer end of the main tent, as the original design was somewhat awkward to put up.

Eventually I'd like to use an Oztent (much the same as dazzler's configuration) for the adults and have the kids sleep in the main tent.

Here's the setup as it was until recently.

The new Foxwing on the camper.

I haven't got enough flat ground to set it up at my house so I'll have to take it camping to get a photo of it all set up.

Welcome and that looks like a neat set up, especially for the price.  :cup:

You don't have to go far where you are for some fantastic camping places.

Welcome Randall.  Which bit of the island are you from.  Have a couple of mates down there.  I saw Foxwing for the 1st time on the weekend.  Liked what I saw.  Have you used it yet?  What are your impressions of it?

Happy camping

A couple of quick replies to some of the replies:

bushbandit - You can probably see a few of the mods done to my Delica, a modest lift, bullbar and roofrack, I also have a long range fuel tank to increase the range. The Deli is currently out of commission having it's injector pump reconditioned (a much faster way to burn $$ than the amount of fuel it uses). We opted for the LWB because you can fit 7 people and luggage in it, as it has a much bigger cargo area.

KingBilly- I'm from the Hobart bit of the island. I haven't had a chance to use the Foxwing in anger yet, as I only put it on last Saturday. We may try it out this weekend depending on the main tow vehicle being repaired.

Yeah only two of us so we imported that version as they were rare at the time ,yes we didnt have a problem with the pump as i used to add conola oil to the tank to keep the seals lubricated worked a treat.Exc mods you have done so far.Are you on the Delica Forum ? Great forum if you own a dicklika as my grandson calls them.
