Post by: Watty2975 on November 10, 2012, 08:58:10 PM
Came across this tonight. Not sure if it is for real but seems cheap. $29000 with 114000 klm.

Oil rig engineers make that much money, they can give away their cars... but can't buy a working phone.

Seems a bit suss as there is no phone number only an email. Great buy for someone if legit though!

With the dodgy email I can guarantee you it is an off shore scam. Once you email them there will be some excuse why you cannot view the vehicle, the sale will be urgent and they will request payment prior to delivery.

They may even ask you for personal details and try and access your details on your computer.

Seen it before, and actually have an email trail from a seller similar......when I CCed crime stoppers into the email chain once I had his confidence and phone number etc etc....he was gone........email disabled.......phone number disconnected all with 10 minutes.........lol

Have a play if you are game.

I would love a 200 series.

At 29k, I might give it a bash. Always love a good bargain.

Sadly, can't even afford this bargain basement value sale.

It would seem that someone has scooped up this bargain! More likely the scam has been shut down. Oh well the search for a sensibly priced 200 continues.

I found the same scam, with selling a car and trying to buy a camper.

Selling a Hyundai Elantra, guy wanted to buy it for his Dad, in New Zealand, he was in New York and the shipping agent was in the UK... Um, no thanks.

Spotted an add for a 2010 Jayco Swan in a printer caravan trader mag, rang the number, left a VM. Next day, I get an SMS advising how to proceed. The camper was located somewhere between Darwin and the QLD boarder, so very hard to get to. Ended up finding an old add from Gumtree, where they stole the photos form, was actually in Vic..

Always, always, always, proceed with caution. If you cannot see it, put your hands on it, run like buggery...
