Just logged in to check our booking for the trip to Morton next week and noticed DERM (Department of Environment and Resource Management) has changed it's now ParksQ was told I had to cancel my booking and re book using the new system, fine I'll do that.
Canceled camping and vehicle permit and was credited the $210 no problem, then went through and made the camping booking for the 8 nights $174.40 cool same as before OK now for the vehicle permit.......
wait wtf it now costs $42.15 for the permit, I paid $35 something 3 months ago when I originally booked and they now want me to pay an extra $6 because they wanted to change their website and in the mean time put prices up, should I not get my original booking at the original price, yes I know it's only $6 but it's the principle..... meh I paid the moneys then noticed that dates on the website are in US format mm/dd/yyyy and subsequently booked the wrong dates, I rang them to complain and was told that basically I have to deal with the price increase and the issue with the website is on my end, they are starting to sound like bigpond - Dude I said Dude the form I am filling out is server side therefore the data I am looking at is from your end (using there date picker) he says well it looks fine on my side ahhhhhhh never mind.
So end of the day if you are using there new system double check everything, it's not as straight forward as they think it is

Pricing and date format aside ... is it more user friendly ... better information ... ways to select from only a few criteria? That's what gave me the Shits about the last site. Had to wade through page after page to find out you couldn't camp there!

Honestly we reckon the new site is CRAP..One of the biggest peeves is the having to register and log in each time just to be able to check availability in camp grounds / zones ..
Reckon the old site was a lot easier to navigate. Trying to talk to who ever answers their phones now and get a straight answer is a waste of time, Next to useless.

I thought spider pig looked pretty happy to me on the ceiling while Homer was singing to him....

Can't comment about the website, but DERM as an agency no longer exists with all the changes with departments since the machinery of government. DERM has been split up and realigned.

Think thats why it's called ParksQ.
Honastly I quite like the website even with the mistakes but the BS of having to pay more for a previously made booking is horse poo
Just hope me trip there is less painfull

Hey Booga
Sorry to hear about your trials. We made our booking for Christmas back in early Sept so when I read your post I checked with ParksQ and also asked the Micat office when making a walk on booking and both told me that prior bookings had migrated over from one system to the other. ParksQ confirmed my booking was valid, Maybe it depends on who you talk to.
Anyway your getting to the Island ........enjoy !!!!

I hate the new site, it is a pain having to log in and go through the booking process just to see if the site is available. Was looking at options for christmas camping the other night and took me 20 mins when before would have taken me 5 mins. I know you have to go forward, but sometimes going forward is not so straightforward.

Seeing as the price is $42.15 it sounds like it was a budget increase. Often with fee structures the dept determines the % increase in line with CPI (or some other factor) and then update them all. It may have been delayed on purpose until the new website went live.
I am in local govt and similar things occur. I put off changing the fees in one area until all the pre printed issue books were used up and then changed. The new payers were not happy yet the change was approved five months earlier. Not making excuses just a possible explanation.

Okay, so I've just created an account and am awaiting the confirmation email. I just want to see how easy / hard it is to register for a campsite. Does anyone know if they are still doing the pre-paid bulk payment (valid for 12 months) and then you just call or use the booking number to register onsite?
Edit: Registering now couldn't be easier! All the info is on one page and you don't need to re-enter all the important stuff once an account is set up.
I like it.
