Title: STOLEN Ascot Vale. Last nightight of 17 October T62110
Post by: Barry G on October 19, 2012, 09:18:16 AM
My little Weekender 'GoGo' camper trailer.

Stolen from out the front of my house while fitted with a hitch lock AND wheel clamp.

Probably the only 'Weekender' brand trailer in Victoria.  (They are a Queensland firm.)

I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Contents included Tirfor hand winch (I bet THAT turns up on evil-bay!) and 25 year old Sidchrome spanner set.

As well as two reclining folding chairs, solar panel, 100amp hour battery, stove, sleeping bags, etc.

May these cnuts and theirs have bad karma for the next millenia.

Those of you who had 'met' my camper know it was nothing to write home about, but it was m i n e, brought and paid for.

I have only ever left my box trailer out on the front lawn once. My neighbours sons mate tried stealing it. It was about 11pm and while lying in bed I heard the safety chains rattling. Raced out of bed and he bolted. I knew who he was, and my neighbour son knew what he'd been upto and came over and apologised the following morning. Never left my trailer in the front yard since. Never trusted my neighbour son again either, they have moved fortunately. He was a druggy, so no prizes for guessing what the potential sale of my trailer would have funded.

D4D, I assume they mustve lifted the wheels onto a 4 wheel 'dolly' as used to tow damaged vehicles, then hauled it onto a tilt tray or pulled it backwards far enough to lift the locked hitch into a 'cradle' fitted to a tow hitch.

Distinquishing features:
#  Flat 12 pin plug - runs both the road lights/indicators AND charges the 100 amp hour AGM battery while towing.
#  Timber (PLYWOOD) pole storage between tool box and trailer body.  Home-built by the previous owner.

Also, if anyone sees a TIRFOR hand winch (with 3 pulley blocks) for sale on=-line, please let me know.

Thanks 'Lost'.
Mine not that good looking.
Tent looks pretty much like that.
Trailer plain grey/blue.
Wheels are white, with a thin red 'pin stripe'. (Passenger side wheel still has dried grease on it from where it threw its wheel bearing.)
Toolbox is a Trojan, painted a different colour where the handles have been removed.

Very poor form.  Hopefully Karma will get them.

Can I suggest you modify your thread title to include  the CT make, it will keep reminding us all of it once we view the pics.

Very true.
I wouldn't want to see an innocent victim thumped - or swagger injured in a blue with the 'crook'.

Photo of the rear of my trailer, just after purchase.
Now has the (larger) Victorian number plate on two aluminium strips screwed between the horizontal braces, on the right hand side of the tail gate.
... and the 'Jack lives here sticker is gone.
As you can see from the 'Weekender' patch sewn on the cover, the tent is actually an AusTent (?) from memory, with that brand logo also visible on the cover.

Side view photo:

'Weekender' name at lower front corner.
Un-painted handle locations clearly visible on the 'Trojan' tool box.
TIMBER pole carrier between tool box and trailer body is also clearly visible.

Not visible in this pic, however the tool box has plastic vents fitted for carrying a fridge.

Thanks to all for your help.

Yes Jamie,
Given what I have learned from you and others over the past 2 years I should come out of it all OK.
Insurance have said they will pay out 2 weeks from notification.
By then I hope to have a tentative order placed for the new rig, with the mods I never had time to do to the old one - like wheels to match the 2 spares on the Outback, and a slide out section accessible from the internal living area.
Just a matter of working out how to turn the negatives into a positive.
However, IMO it r e a l l y demonstrates why insurance is crucial.

No, no news, now waiting on insurance pay-out to pick up my new 'toy' - fantastic 2nd hand Heaslip off road camper.
Definately won't be parked at my place though, but at a secret private camper park ...

Jeepers if that Happened I would probably loose my marbles at them. Its horrible to read something like that then to realise that it make sense in a depressingly real way.

I hope all gets sorted out for you and the positives of the new camper can outweigh some of the bad.

Cheers
