ok so I am wishing to buy a tarp and poles to cover my camper + give me a bit of shade over the front, I currently have a 16' x 20' tarp which covers the camper only, I'd like to extend this over the front by about 10-20' the question here is can you get a 20'x40' tarp even a 20'x30' if so what poles would I need, I've looked in the usual places but cant figure out exactly what I need or where to buy it from.

tarp, lotsa poles, spreader bars, guy ropes with springs, big pegs and perhaps some tennis balls with holes that sit on top of the spigots on your tent. Nothing too exotic, and your typical camping store will sell all of the above. Bar the spreader, you could get versions of all of the above from big w.
The oztrail ultrarig tarps seem to have a reasonable reputation and not too expensive.

Eco tarps make nice tarps and do both 20' x 30' and 20 x 40'

Get a zipper sewn to the front of the trailer, and then a canvas awning made... much easier than trying to setup that 50000sqklm tarp over the lot with a trillion poles and ropes.. specially if its hell windy or raining.

I'm with Lost on this one.
Our mates that camped with us recently have a huge tarp, lots of spreaders and poles and ropes etc.. Almost ended in divorce.
We setup in about 1hr (including two tents, dining fly etc..) they took almost 4 hours for just their tent with the tarp over the top.
If you do get a huge tarp let me know where and when you are setting up, cause I want to come and watch help out :D

yeah heavy tarps = pita
i purchased the side walls from a gazebo from anaconda ( fly type / nylon matrial ) and had those sewn together
its very light and folds into a shopping bag , it covers the camper completely we also use aluminium poles ....
cons .... in adverse conditions wind and rain it can flap and if not set up right will hold water
pros ....reduces heat / light keeps crap of the tent easy to put up ...5 mins
best thing we have purchased ...except the esky

I have an extended awning on my tent and works a treat... it has velcro on the bottom and it attaches to the roof of the annex...
Had some half decent winds last time we camped and didnt budge

cheers guys, the idea is really that we already have one for the camper, just to keep the crap of it bat n other unwanted bird droppings and as an added storm cover god knows us Qld'ers get our fair share in summer, also helps when packing up in weather as happend with our last trip to stradbroke, pissing rain and couldn't delay packing up due to barge etc.
I know they are a pita but imho it's a nessersary pita.
So yeah will check out your link geo, cheers
