Title: Must be getting old!
Post by: davethepom on October 02, 2012, 01:36:19 PM
Afternoon all,

I was staying at Fingal Head last week in the caravan park.  It was my first time in a park since I was a POME backpacker in '88.

Since we live in the country, with nobody nearby, we were worried about the potential noise in the night.

On the second night my worst fears were realised!  I was in bed, trying to sleep, and could hear people laughing and shouting not far away.  I lay there tossing and turning thinking "How rude to be making so much noise in the middle of the night!"

In the end, I had to get up for a wiz (too much info?) and, on the way back, decided to check the time...It was 8.42pm  ;D ;D :-[ :-[  I had a good laugh at what a cranky old git I'm becoming and went back to bed.

By 9.00pm (the quiet down time) everyone had ceased their completely reasonable behaviour  ;D and we didn't hear a sound.  In fact, the whole time we were there we didn't hear anyone at night.

Dave.

My wife and kids laughed at me in the morning when I told them.

We were recently at Ferndale Park. There were a couple of campsites with younger guys (great to see the teenagers getting out and camping) that decided to play music from their car util all hours (at least 10pm).

Once the long weekend was over and the younger campers went home the place was quiet as a mouse pretty much as soon as it got dark.

In the end I didn't mind the young folk, they were ground breaking in what they were listening too, it was pretty much easy listening :D

Our last trip the wife and I decided that after a couple of early nights there was no way we were going to bed before 8.30pm it nearly killed us to stay up that late .

At age 52, try mowing lawns all day and then staying up late...... doesn't happen.

Being the worlds fattest mower man at 102 kilos doesn't help either. although, having said that, if i'm on the ride-on mower all day, then staying up until 8;30 is a goer.

Anyway, staying up late watching repeat movies is very over rated.

Yeah, I could have just told nobody but where's the fun in that?  ;D  :-[  In my defense, I was up for sunrise most mornings.  Even when friends come over to stay and we get on it a fair bit, we still rarely make it up past midnight.

baldheadedgit; That's bloody funny mate!  I wonder how many passers by took a happy snap  ;D
