Title: THANKS to a couple of MySwagger's!
Post by: brickiematt on September 29, 2012, 08:47:00 PM
G'day all

We're currently cruising around Tassie for 2 1/2 weeks, and absolutely loving it!
I just wanted to acknowledge a couple of MySwagger's who have shown great friendliness while we've been here.

Firstly, Austastar. We are currently camped at Snug Beach campground, about 30K's south of Hobart. Beautiful and peaceful spot. The second day we were here, we heard a "g'day" from the front of the tent. I went out and our visitor introduced himself as Austastar! We invited him in and spent the next hour or so chatting about what we've been up to, and gaining some excellent local insight and knowledge about where to go and what to see.
Off his own bat, Austastar took the time to seek us out and come and say g'day. To say we were chuffed with that is an understatement, and can say we've taken a lot of his advice on board. It was like having our own local tour guide. Thanks heaps mate.

Second, Xfigio. I'll start by saying that the weather we've had here has been fantastic. Sunshine and blue skies, a bit cold at times, but almost no rain........until yesterday! The wind picked up the night before last, don't know how strong, but certainly the strongest we've had in the CT, and enough to get me up 4 times during the night to check guy ropes, pegs etc. The rain came yesterday arvo, still not too cold though. This morning woke up to blue skies and sunshine, but not for long. The wind gradually picked up and swung around to the SW, temp at midday was 5c and it was pissing down.
I thought I'd log into Myswag before the GF, and found a PM from Xfigio.
He was warning us that storms were headed for southern Tas, with hail and winds of up to 120kmh predicted. He then went on to say that if we needed a place to shack up should things get really bad, then he is just 5 mins up the road in Margate and we were welcome to come on in.
We were amazed at such a generous offer, and also for the heads up. As yet, we haven't had the need to take up the offer (touch wood)! Thanks Xfigio.

So myself and the family just wanted to thank both Austastar and Xfigio for showing what I reckon is the absolute essence of this great forum: friendliness, mateship and a willingness to offer help if or when others may need it.

We really appreciated the time you both took to contact us, and, like an elephant, I never forget, so hopefully one day I'll be able to return the favour.

Thanks guys :cup:

Cheers
Matt

That's why Tassie is a top place to live.  :D  :D  :D

Did you get snowed on Matt? I heard that there was some snow down that way.

Nah no snow, bloody cold though!! Wanted to get up Mt Wellington today, but they shut the road due to extreme weather :'( Wouldn't have seen anything anyway, cloud was really low.

No probs Matt.  I actually drove down to snug to check that all was ok, but you were all out and about, so was glad to hear that my message got through and that.youre surviving.  The offers still open any time if you want some dry warmth.

Oh hell, i'd of loved to visit Matt's campsite while he wasn't there.

The fun a person could have, but then, as the wife says, some days i'm just pure evil....  >:D >:D
