Hi Guys,
I am looking for the cheapest place to purchase a recovery bridle. I would prefer the winch rope type, and dont want the type that is designed to stretch.
Or is over $100 the best i am going to get?
Thanks,
Welchy

Cheers for the link mate, but i am looking for one that isnt designed to stretch, so that i can use it for multiple things if needed.
Thanks mate,

I use a tree trunk protector for a bridle. I never snatch without it.

I thought we already had a thread with all this in it?

What else would you use it for?

A mulitude of uses mate, if you get the one that stretches, you can only use it for snatching. If you get winch rope that doesnt stretch then you could use it for anything (really short extension 2m if you needed it, moving a winch block out 2m from an anchor point etc.) Two uses for everything ;D
Thats my justification for wanting one that doesnt stretch, not asking for a debate on it, thats my reasons just want to know if anyone knows of one under the 100 dollar mark for the dynamica one.
Cheers,
Welchy

Hi welchygq,
I've got one of the 4X4 Equip bridles......the type that you don't want. I must be missing something......I can't see why it couldn't be used anywhere, but you must have your reasons.
I've also got one that I made out of an off-cut of 11mm Dynamica winch rope. Looks and works like the real deal.
Eye-splicing is very easy........maybe make your own........

My reason is pretty simple mate - the bridle is designed to stretch - not really something you want in another type of recover except snatching.
Yeah thought about making my own - but dotn ahve an offcut of rope. :'(
Unless you want to sell me yours?? ;D
Might see if i can just by 2m of rope from someone and do just that.
Thanks mate,
Welchy

If you want a 2m bridle, you'll need to add another metre or so for eye-splicing (depending on rope size).
Splice length = 50 x rope diameter.....and also add an allowance for the eyes......

Welchy, you do know that winch cable does have a certain amount of stretch as well?
If you don't want to use a tree trunk protector, for less than $100 you could just get a 3t lifting sling, that would do the job.

Yeah mate i am aware that winch rope does still stretch, however it is made to minimise this instead of the other type which appears to be made to maximise it.
Thought about a sling but (rightly or wrongly) i have it in my head that the rope will be easier to wedge into the already over crowded recovery bag, and Car!
Cheers for the thoughts,

what is wrong with a drag chain

AFAIK most bridles don't stretch. The one above would be the first I've seen that does.
Have a look at Just Straps (https://www.juststraps.com.au/Default.asp?). Well under the $100 mark..
-
I just use an arb tree trunk protector. Good for both then

Is this bridle you speak of otherwise known as an equaliser strap?
If yes, I've got a TJM/Ox one, pretty sure it was sub-$100 (might have even been sub-$50/$60!?), and came in a nice bag like their snatch straps.
I use it without exception on the front of our Triton between the two hitching points to equalise the load. It doesn't stretch. Pretty sure it's not meant to.

Cheers mate - but am after the rope type, not the strap type

Sure thing. But if you're after a non-stretch type, then this could be ok if you can't find a rope-type..
