Hey guys, some of you know that we've been preparing our 1958 Ford mainline for our trip around Australia.. It's been a long 6 months working on this car and finally I can say we took it for a drive on Saturday... She's had so much done to her, and she preformed great. It was a short drive and we have one more week of adjustments, then get our camper ready and we'll be hitting the road.... It's very exciting and we can't wait to be out on the wide open roads loving our beautiful country... Mrs Smith, that is so cool... What a sweet setup. So happy to see others doing it a little different too... We had a teardrop that we were going to use, but we are also taking two dogs(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/17/a4aje5e5.jpg)
Ended up buying a customline camper trailer which is amazing to tow behind our mainline....

A little different and some may be offended hehehehe...
Don't worry about that. I always thought a Ford should be in a Ford and a Chev should be in a Chev until it comes to Hemis. They have earned the right to go anywhere they like. ;D Have a great trip but be careful, I don't know the camper trailer will go at 150 mph!
-
Hey matters, we agree.. Hemis rock and we are so happy with it so far(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/17/heva8yma.jpg)

hey, wild looking unit.
Is that a 6/71 puffer and at what % are you spinning it at?
Are you using a crank support?
Just looking at the pics again, is it a 4/71 blower. I would think if it is, it would be a bit small.
-
Hey jeppers is a 6/71 blower. Running at 10% under driven.. Not crack support.. It's standard street stuff.... I got that info from my partner... Hehehehe... I know a lot about cars but not that mucj

We use to run a 14/71 on a 355 ci small block chev at 27% over driven.
It was full on drag car, but hell, it made that small block sing. We use to cross the finish line at 8,500 rpm, with that set up, the blower was spinning at just under 11,000 rpm.
Good luck on your trip.
If you need cusso parts, PM me, a mate of mine is Customline Motors (Cusso) at Traveston.
-
Heya jeppers sorry bout the delay. We were working on the car. Trying to get her ready for the road. We finally finished and have been driving her around.
Your set up sounds wicked and a lot of fun. Nothing like what we're doing, but still hoping to do some drag racing along the way.
We will definitely need parts in the future... I'll pm you.. Here she is at the car wash... (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/25/ru9yqezu.jpg)

When are you bringing it to the St Angers Pub
-
No idea just yet lost... But we not expecting much and have got a big budget for petrol.... It's a crazy idea.
I seem to remember some other dude touring Oz in a blown V8... his idea for carrying extra fuel could work for you.

Brett we are up in kingers for the next couple of weeks. We should take it to the pub one day. We'll let you know mate, or pop up the mountain for a visit. Can check out our customline camper....
It is a bit mad max style..... We will take photos at every servo along the way and maybe write reviews on them.. Hehehe we'll visit a few I'm sure...

where did this pic come from??!!
-
GeeTee that is the actual car used in both movies. It was sold to a wrecking yard and that's it sitting around before someone with half a brain snaffled it.

Looks great guys! Definetly a credit to you both!
Are you expecting any drama from the authorities with that blower/carb poking its head out to say hello? Or just hoping they leave it be and appreciate it?
Very envious of you both thats for sure!
-
We have just built a scoop and will need to get engineers certificate.. Fingers crossed its all good... Drives like a dream. We love it.

Most police that have had any interest in my xb coupe was to stickybeak and have chat to admire the car. Unless you are doing burnouts or acting the goose, the wallopers are more interested in your 20 something's driving their fully sik
Shiteboxes. ......
-
That's what we think dogs breakfast... We'll keep the fast driving for the drag strip.... It's fully registered and getting engineers certificate next week... Hopefully it passes....

I happened to be admiring a mighty tough old ford ute in Tassie today, and got a little excited as the blower whined and she chirped the tyres between gears then it suddenly occurred to me that I know that ute....its FRIDAY!!!!
-
Touring Oz in a supercharged ute is one thing, but having a fuel tanker to follow as a support vehicle is just showing off!
Looks like you're close to my home, I'll have to keep an eye out

On the open road id imagine its probably not too bad but yeh in my pic I think Gav is trying to wave the fuel tanker down ;)
