Title: G’day from Wyreema
Post by: Maltek on August 01, 2012, 08:21:24 PM
Hi all, just joined the site tonight hoping for some good advice on joining the camper trailer brotherhood. My wife and three kids have been camping for over 8 years now but our tent has finally  given in so we have decided to buy a camper trailer and are now becoming very excited about it!

We had a lot of trouble deciding on whether we wanted a Jayco Hawk which we like the look of or just a plain old soft floor camper, we were worried that we would be restricted with the Jayco in where we would be able to tow it as we like to do alot of beach camping and are worried about getting over the dunes that enter many of the campgrounds

So where we are up to now is that we have decided on a soft floor off-road camper trailer but are a bit bewildered by the choice, our favourite at this stage is the Dynamic Trailer by Prestige Campers, we just looked at one at the Toowoomba Camping show and it looked very well built and is completely made of Stainless Steel. I would really appreciate everyone’s opinion or recommendation’s.

Thanks

G'day Maltek,
(http://www.hairfysh.com/images/Icons/Smileys/welcome.gif)
To Myswag.
Sorry I can't help you with your camper query, we sold our soft nearly 4 years ago.
And it was a home made job, bits and pieces from everywhere.
It was heaps lighter than the Swan we have now.
Hope you enjoy your time here.
Happy & Safe travels travels.

G'day & Welcome.

There is a plethora of makes and models to choose from that is for sure. I've been reading the other thread on s/s campers and for me the benefits don't seem to be there. Painted steel is well proven, and the alloy campers are making some in-roads though alloy has its own pluses and minuses. Look at the tent more so than the trailer. If the tent is not good it doesn't matter if the trailer is gold plated with diamond wheel studs.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Heaps of info on here to keep you reading for days & days.

I agree with Big Jules in regards to the tent being the most important. Good quality & well made Aussie tent will last forever if you look after it.

What sort of budget are you looking at & what mods????

I don't envy you with your search as there are so many good Aussie made CT's out there.  Might want to try and do a bit of a spreadsheet so you can compare.

We love our Customline but it's horses for courses......bit like house or car shopping...  ;D

Also don't rule out buying second hand too....

Good luck with your search & ask away.
