Hi all, someone can you help me out. I was wondering how long will the water stay fresh in a C/T poly tank - firstly, When full to overflowing and 2ndly only 1/2 full. We are going away soon (4 weeks) and camper has been sitting with a full tank for a few months. Will taste test but a bit of reassurance so I don't empty the tank will help. Tank water will be used for cooking, washing up, and showers. Usually we carry drinking water in seperated containers in the vehicle but may still use tank for drinking if we run out. Will be doing alot of bush camping.

It will be fine, water doesn't go 'off'
-
Mate, if you are only cooking etc with it, you should have no problems, I like to keep the drinking water separate however.
-
if you need to drink it and are concerned boil it will get rid of most impurities

Thanks all for your replies, and Hairs looked at the thread and it helps alot. Will leave water in for this trip (take some tabs to throw in tank if required) but will be filling up in country towns so may empty on return home
Again thanks

BTW, a handy little gadget is a 4 way vandal proof key for taps.

About 15 odd bucks at plumbing supplies.

I refill my containers after the trip, sometimes adding bicarb then drain them just days before leaving. Some times it can taste like plastic. If so boil it and the taste changes. A friend has fitted a purifier which seems to be the answer.

Thanks ratrodeo for your reply. And hairs already have one of those tap thingies but not had to use it yet also read your trip report of the flinders, Can not wait just want to go now !!!!!!!

Wouldn't that make it burn your throat?
On our boat water tank, we toss a cap full of Aqua Sure every now and again and will use the same stuff in our CT, once we get it.
