I hope (as per one of the posts on the forum linked) that it is a clone, not genuine.
Sad to see an old jigger go out, but what a way to go.
Was at a Charger club day at Winton many years ago. Watched one member come out of the pits on his first run in his VK360, floor it - and smack the entire side of his rig onto the concrete wall on the old main straight - all up his track day lasted 4 seconds. Made me back of for at least 2 laps!! ;D
-
Clone or not that is just horrific. What a waste!
-
With all the repo stuff being made, there's more GT & GTHO Falcons driving about now than were originally made at the Ford factory.
-
Kudos to the guy for actually using the car for wat it was made for and not keeping it a garage or trailer queen.

Perhaps that now means Flipped On Race Day!! instead of Found On Rubbish Dump.
(Flame suit on). ;D
-
I'm not into the whole Ford / Holden thing ... I just thing that whatever happened ... it's a tragic day for GTHO fans (and having driven one, I'm going to say it was probably something to do with the Shitty steering they have ... Arm Power Steering!).
Prefer the first photo myself. I like the colour.

Bent and buckled, doors, some of you blokes get a bit precious about Fords after it is just an old ford. ;D

Bloody nice car or should I say was. Poor bugger.

Very sad some of these NC/Group C racers are worth rediculous money even if they are clones $600k +. Sad to see a great old classic end up like that. I do agree thats its great to see them doing what they were designed for. We went to Bathurst this year and I thouroghly enjoyed the classics, they were great to watch as you could see the guys wrestleing with them and they slid around and bucked all over the track.
I sold my GroupC a few years ago and its now competing again in Historics, I am worried that one day it may suffer the same fate. I hope not.

And you two as well,
Nomad & jclures
Mark ya selves down as being on that list.
" it is just an old ford" Yeah right :o

haha.
Yeah engine wasn't much good with out mods, I managed to get 180hp out of mine on twin 48's and plenty $$$. There strong point was the twisty bits, great fun and so predictable on a wet greasy road. I was a tragic and had 11 of them. This was my last. I consider going there again often but should really grow up. + I think it would be a let down after my Sierra Cosworth.
@Navara04 a Bundera hey, now the truth is coming out mate.

Ok I have to say this, in the photo with the Toyota and I think a Valiant, is this where the saying comes from, “you are going from bad to worse.” ;D

that Valiant won the over all point score 4 years running, feature point score 2 years running & held the Lismore Speedway lap record in its day.

Yeah I drive both at work and the Ford has it hands down for acceleration but handling is s#%t. Yes one is a XR6 Turbo and the other is an 8 :police:

Jason 108hp as an atmo is not bad.
mate had a GL that got built with a turbo, got a SS/CC record for 11.56 in 1987 I think. it later ran 11.2 with a fuel injection hookup.
This was a pretty big deal in those days. and the Moroso calculator said 360 horses.
I suppose we can let the cat out of the bag in that we used a sierra cosworth block with the SOHC head on top. Put plenty of trick engineering into the head to make it hold together and that's why it could also rev to 8000 as well! . The rolling chassis is sold but I think the motor still exists
off topic I know... still hurts to see that trashed falcon

Mate I remember those days well, plenty of mates had turbo pinto's runing methonol and water injection etc. I was restricted to particular manifolds etc so 180hp from an atmo pinto was a good effort, my engine was built by Kevin Bartlett and it was as strong as an ox.
11 sec quarters out of an escort would have been mind blowing. I had a Sierra Cosworth with 320kw (as far as I was prepared to go for reliability for a road car) and it was an awesome bit of gear. Mine was the latter 4wd model. One of the guys on the RS forum has a RS with 450hp cosworth in it as a circuit car. Wow.

FORDs ROCK ;D
PS. They are NISSAN skyline track cars that he is lapping ;D

Is seems that Toyota drivers like Fords and Datsun(sorry Nissan) drivers like Holdens. Would I be right in saying that?
Love the old Escorts. My first car was an Escort.
I definitely would have cried if that was my Falcon!

I'm glad you clarified that with the use of the word CAR.
I thought for a moment you had the wrong forum.

Nup, long string of GM products owned, but currently have 4 different makes in my name.
Rodeo & Aurion for us oldies, Laser and 121 Metro for the daughters. Ill go with anything - call me a h@rlot ;D.
Never owned a Nissan myself, but my father had one of the first Bluebirds brought into Oz, along with a 720 later on.
Would love to still have my 68 F100SWB, along with my VG Pacer hardtop. Still mourning the HT350 GTS i didnt buy back in 88. $2500 asked, I tried to knock him down to $2k and walked away. Wat a dumass I was.

We have a Pathfinder and a Navara, my toys are a MkI and a MkII Escort. So I guess I don't fit the mould. :D

I don't find it sad at all that the Falcon got hurt. It died on duty. It was built to race, and race it did. Lakeside is a very unforgiving track.
What would have been sad, is if this poor old girl died in the hands of a thief, joy rider or idiot street racer. It passed away on a race track, in the loving hands of its driver and in front of fans who loved and adored her. Now it's an organ donor and will help others needing transplants to return to racing duties. The old girl has just moved on.
Anyhow, great to see there's heaps of motorsport and classic car fans here.
Shane.

3-6 roll overs- sounds like an infamous rollover crash along the armco at bathurst, also a Falcon . I always liked the way the camera man taking shots at the armco stays unil almost too late and gets smothered in dust as he bolts for the car park!
I wouldnt be surprised if that car is ressurected, but it is likely to have been a 'grandpa's axe' job anyway. Still, it was a very well presented car.
I am a Ford man ( and did own a XW GT - # 458) that was written off due to a spin down an embankment due to black ice on the GT Western Hwy on the way to Bathurst! Again, no one hurt after 3.5 rolls, the chassis was a banana, but we still had to turn the engine off ( ticking over even as the rockers filled with oil)I never found the steering to be an issue, getting the thing to stop if the brakes got warm was always my issue! Amaroo was a bitch! (any one remember stop/go???) I could never place there, the Toranas and Escorts would smother me in the corners and the GT could never regain on teh straight what it lost on the corners. Mind you, the Monaros and Kingswoods were no better for the same reason. I found the Chargerss to be the worst, plenty of go, lots of torque down low meant less gear changes, which meant you could gain places due to the fact you didn't interupt the drive as often. But corners killed them. Couldn't stop, couldn't turn. And if you did get them to turn the under steer snapping to over steer as your speed changed was vicious.
But I dont car what it is, any of the 70's cars are nice to look at, except the P76!
