Don't you just hate it when someone just in the last 2 sec beats you to a good ebay deal!! :'(
I've been looking for some GU steel rims for the trailer to match Chunky, and got onto a great deal for four of them , but some clown beat me to them last night by $1.20 in the last 2sec..... "NOT HAPPY JAN"

Cheers Chippy :D

Yep very annoying. I am looking to get rid of my rims off my trailer and get some to match my Defender, pretty sure mine are GU rims.
-
I use JustSnipe I think. The beauty of these is that you set yourself a budget and walk away. Auctions can be too emotional. It is probably worth paying for a membership if you buy often, that way you can snipe in the last 2 seconds otherwise I think it is 5 or 8 seconds.

Bid once, bid your max price, and bid in last 3 seconds...
if you win you win, if you lose you win as your not paying more than your willing to pay.

yep, agree... you look at items with 100 bids, they are usually in $ increments...
putting 89cents on it usually wins it for u

Yhea they did all the bidding, and i watched all the attempts, and thought he/she was going to give it up, at the last min i upped my bid another few dollars and would you bekive right on the bell he/her last bid came through !!...

so you kept bidding... waste of time
why not put your max price in first time? and stick to it.

Thats the way to do it Lost.
I work out what "X" is worth to me, then add 51 cents and bid in the last 5 0r 6 sec's.
That way I never lose, I either get it or it goes for more than what it was worth to me.

Bidnip
Snipe
You get it every time, over 1,000 purchases and climbing

Mate did you have a pick of them ?
-
we use 2 computers, one to watch while constantly refreshing, and one to place bids
-
gixen.com (http://gixen.com) is the go ... free sniping, and you don't even need to set up an account
copy-and-paste the item ID of interest from eBay and (once you've used your eBay credentials to login) enter the amount you're willing to pay
then walk away
means you're not showing your hand (avoiding other bidder's emotional bid increases as well as your own)
you can also "group" multiple similar items ... when you "win" one of the auctions from such a group the other bids are automatically canceled
-

Here you go mate. Sorry best pic I have of them.

Yep, thats them, PM me when you ready to swap them out for your LR ones, and we can talk, would be much appreciated.
-
I also wont bid on things where you see "private listing - bidders' identities protected"
They are usually the seller that has the same items under 3-5 different Ebay accounts (you look at the photos, the freight amounts, the engrish etc you can see they are the same seller), I trust none of them.
-
All sorted , got onto another set, and now very happy man!, hope the swag mail is working in a month or so,
-
Thought I was winning on a hi lift jack & shovel holder and find out that I wasn't the leading bidder- pi$$ed off.

Theres so many people out there with 3-6 accounts just bidding up items these days, and ebay couldnt give a Shit.. Specifically some of the Solar Panel companies.
Also never bid on anything with a hidden/private bids.. that just dribbles of scam.

Its to do with the fees.
its next to nothing if you start at 99cents or less.
if you start it at $500 like you want, then you pay up the ginger. So easier to bid it up....
Was watching some stuff last week, where there was 120 bids all up and 90 odd were from a low feedback bidder, all $5.00 ea bid... just creaping it up and up...

yea same here, it is what it is, but ebay will ultimately loos custom if they don't do something about it (albeit a long time from now)

no they wont, people will jump up and down, but nothing will change as Ebay makes more out of it.
-
Up to now, I have only bought a few items at auction, I've used AuctionStealer with success, Now I usually hit the buy now button when buying off ebay.
I do my home work on the product, find out how much it's worth, make sure it is a Aussie store with good feedback.
Sometimes my local Spare parts bloke is cheaper than eBay.
As Lost mentioned, I bid, and forget it, IF i am the winning bid so be it, if not I haven't forced up the price by getting carried away.

Yeah ebay needs to seriously increase its transparency.........bidders should be disclosed and so should linked accounts and seller disclosure requirements etc...........I would rather buy secondhand items off real people than some of the sh!t that is being spruiked there atm.
