gday jimbo
ive got an oztrail 9 tent that i've only used 4 times and cant complain. been camping with the other famous, and infamous, names and can only comment at the ease at setup compared to my buds wrestling their canvas monsters, probably more to do with the 14oz-15oz canvas as the Oztrail is 12 oz, still quite heavy enough yet a bit easier to handle. i myself suffer a lower back injury but could still manage to setup with the wife with minimal discomfort. being the 9 its a bit easier to setup as there is less framework and basically when you fold it out thats it with only 3 internal poles required inside tent when open. the good wife and i can have ours up and standing in about 5 minutes.as far as quality goes i cant complain there either, haven't found anything to bitch about, not like me, so that must be a good thing, hope this helps.
p.s. i currently have an oztrail 9 for sale in classifieds if your interested. (shameless plug i know)

HI Jimbo
The oztrail IMO sits about in the middle of the cheapies and the aussie canvas tops. We had the Camper 7 on our first camper trailer and could not fault it.
I read somewhere (a review I think) that had a look at the factory in China and the story goes that the canvas is made in china but the company is managed/supervised by aussies and the quality is much better. Maybe this was BS however compared to a mates ebay cheapie it was chalk and cheese.
There are specials on these from time to time but roos is good value!

Hey Jimbo,
I can't fault them. I've had experience with 3 Oztrail tops now (1 x Camper 6, 2 x Camper 9's), and they've all been good. The Camper6 was replaced with a 9, just for the additional space. It was still in perfect condition when sold. Canvas is good, and the new models have the tilting bed base as standard, which the earlier ones missed out on.
Speed-wise, they're a bit more fiddly and a bit longer to set up than our Trackabout tent, but certainly nowhere near as bad as some others that I could name. Just a few more poles to juggle, etc.
I would second everything Dazzler has said.
Both Camper9 tops (now that I think of it) have come from : http://www.kulkyne.com/au/OZtrail-Camper-Top-9.html (http://www.kulkyne.com/au/OZtrail-Camper-Top-9.html) . Cannot recommend highly enough. Cheap, freight was not a problem, and shipping was quick. At the time they were doing a special, and were throwing in the sunroom walls and a LED light for free. Great value right there.
Good luck!
Matto :)

I have a oztrail 7 which we used for many trips over 2 years and it was great. Recently brought a Jayco Dove outback to keep the missus happy. I brought mine through Kangaroo tent city who price matched Kulkyne camper top price as if it needed any repairs I would have to send it back to Vic and pay freight .

Our first camper was Oztrail camper 6 on top of a standard 6x4 garden trailer and I loved it easy set up good in all weather and we had it set up in some heavy rain and winds. New camper top is ok takes longer to set up as bit bigger tent but still miss the actual oztrail it was just well made we felt. Only sold the top as we wanted more off road trailer. One thing to check though is that they have maximum trailer heights that they can go onto so best check that before buying this would be the case with most tents I would think.
