Hello,
I want to swap our the rego details on two vehicles I own. 1 of the cars I will be selling in the near future, but I want its rego plate on my new car. I can't find anything on the web specific to this, only transferring to a buyer. I assume Qld TMR will want me to do 2 transfers, but I can't find any information. Has anyone done this?
Cheers,
John

I wanted to do some thing like that (had personal plates on one car and wanted to swap to car just bought),was not allowed to swap them over , had to get a new plate. But this was done at a court house in a small town , so if you go to a main transport office they may do it there.

not that hard in Vic. Went to Vicroads, got personalised plates taken off and "standard issue" plates put on one car, then in a "seperate transaction" had the personalised plates put on another car.

it can be done in QLD with personalized plates.....i guess its the same when you swap normal plates for them but reversed....go to dept of transport...fill out yet another form...possibly pay money and change plates .... at a guess

Thanks everyone, pretty much what I expected. I've been told by a rellie that I need to get a new set of plates for the car I am not keeping, then I can put the ones I want on the new vehicle. These aren't personalized, just a good combination of random letters/numbers. The other factor is that I a have $65 bicycle rack plate for this number as well.
I'll contact Transport & Main Roads on Tuesday.

Just to close the loop on this one, I went to TMR and asked about swapping plates - first answer was "No can't be done because they are not personalised". I mentioned that I had a bike rack plate, which makes my standard plates "personalised". So the end result is $24 for new plates for the old car, old car plates put onto the new car. I then updated the insurance company via the web.

It is exactly the same in QLD.
