Man extinguishes eternal flame (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26vX-u9QIqk#)

An absolute disgrace. I can't remember the last time I was so outraged when I saw this on the news. This is disrespect of the highest order. Makes my blood boil.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk so don't blame me if it doesn't make sense.

Theres always 1 in the crowd . The Eternal Flame is within us all . We always remember those that went before that gave the ultimate sacrifice . This is symbolic to those that will follow & take up the flame when they learn to be Australian
-
Oh & kick him to death with Ugg Boots 8) >:D
-
Scum......
-
Ummm, deported to where?
I guess you are saying that an Australian wouldn't do such a thing. Unfortunately Australians aren't beyond stupidity.
He may not be mentally stable. Don't string him up yet like Craig Thomson has been.
As Speewa says, the flame is within.
-
Total disgrace, however lets not go overboard. The flame is nothing more than a symbol. It is what it represents is more important, and you aren't going to put that out with an extinguisher.

I'm sure that a couple of blokes at the local RSL would be more than happy to point out the error of this guys ways - if they find him. >:D

Probably an "anti-war" protester but I know the ideals of the diggers that the flame reperesents would still be to defend our rights and freedoms. There are some
idiots people who will never understand the tyranny we have been protected from.
Outrage does not go close to my reaction. However, I felt a little less outraged when I noticed him place his hand on the rail as he jumped back out - finger and hand prints taken by the authorities I hope.
Nail him and make an example of him, please.
-
Anti War protester? - thats fine, i do not share your views, however living in a democratic country means you have the right to hold your views. Regardless of wether i think your wrong.
However extinguishing a flame that is a shrine of remeberance for those how have passed, allowing you to live in this country, free and democratic - to me is no better than detroying a grave stone.
You may hate war, as do most soldiers!, but you cannot hate someone that died so you can express your views without fear of reprisal.

Thanks to this thread (good or bad), I can't help but wonder how the Australian Aborigines felt when the white fella started climbing Uluru (and other similar acts).
Ran into a fellow who was going to climb Uluru knowing how the locals felt about it. Said he was sympathetic to their request. Didn't really care. Stuff 'em all. Will this act wake him up? We all know the answer to that.
If they are not directly affected or it is not in their thought range, dumb stuff will continue to be done by some.
