Title: point me in the direction of the best ugg boots
Post by: cootha on May 25, 2012, 05:58:15 PM
I blew my uggies out at the end of last winter (riding my crf450 of all things), now in need of some new ones.

Anyone got any ideas of who makes good ones, they've gotta be 100% Aussie, no imported crap.  I need large size highish cut too and hard wearing for camping trips etc.

I need to be able to wear them out to the pub, rsl, golf club and other fine dining establishments as well  8).

Love ya work

I go to a shop in Capalaba Park shopping centre called Skinny's. I think there's a shop in Mt Gravatt too. They have a good selection of ugg boots and other sheepskin products. Pretty sure mine are Aussie made and bonus for me is they go up to a size 15!

The perfect Aussie winter footwear, don't leave home with them on though.

We continue to buy ours from Two Sheep, which is an Organisation that provides employment for people with intellectual disabilities.

Discovered them on a trip to Dubbo a couple of years back and we are still wearing them.

People that we have recommended them to have been very happy.

Cheers

Yep, my vote's for Emu as well. Same as you cootha, i blew out the uggies a few weeks ago, and as i live in em over winter and when camping, looked around for some replacements and found these. Rugged and well made, the sole is the best i've seen on a pair of uggies. I got the Outback Lo style. Bloody warm too.
Cheers

We get ours from the Skin Thing near the Ettamogah pub (the one with the skins hanging over the fence just before the pub on the highway)
Bloody good quality and the sole is awesome.
My brother took a pair in that were way out of warranty with a cracked sole and they replaced no questions asked!!
Highly recommended

What the !!!! Why would folk in Brisbane have any knowledge of ugg boots ???

Don't think were I live I really need a pair.........and do not own a pair.

We would laugh at people wearing them in the street in Cooma when I lived there....as they passed

through on the way to the snow.

They are really for old folk in nursing homes aren't they ?

Mine lasted 3 years before I bothered to glue them back together.  Duct Tape was used as a clamp to hold while the glue dried as well.

And another for these... I think they have a few outlets around and I bought mine from a place near Maitland and they make them there... Awesome boots but not cheap.... Always take them camping when its real cold..

I last bought mine fr9m our local 'country leather' place in town.
Lasted the distance.
Had them for near on 18 years now. Lasting well. Treat them with respect.
I can't afford to buy another pair now.
Gone up about 400%  in cost in the last 18 years.
I'll be making sure these ones last.

For those that have purchased the Emu uggs, have you purchased directly from them or elsewhere. My wife is after a new pair & likes the Emu's

G'day pete. I got my Emu's from a shoe repair shop in my local shopping centre. Gave me a chance to "try before I buy"! I think they only come in full sizes though ie. no half sizes. They are a great pair of uggs. Good tough sole on them, and also a removable sheepskin inner sole.
Cheers

I agree hargs - I've been in Canberra for over a decade now and I still don't see the need for a pair of ugg boots - whats wrong with thongs?  ;D

I always have a good laugh when i visit the wife's family in Mackay in the middle of winter - everyone up there is wearing ugboots and beanies! We go out fishing early mornings if the tides are right and my in laws are whinging about the cold and trying to hide down in the boat out of the breeze - I'm sitting up front not feeling a thing. 13 degrees - beautiful!

I purchased some emu uggs for both myself and SWMBO about 5 years ago from the emu online store.
The mrs got the higher legged more expensive ones and they have been fantastic.
I went for he cheaper ones on the website and was totally pi$$ed off when I received them as they were made in china. They still were  the EMU brand. They were compete sh!t, stuffed in 12 months.
I have since received another pair of EMU uggs, but this time the more expensive Aussie made ones.
They are extremely good quality and are wearing really well.

x eleventeen!  I haven't been out of my cheap woolies ones so far, but they aren't what I'm used to ... no where near as warm ... and before the winter is over ... they'll need washing in something strong smelling.

I vote Skinny's.  There is an outlet along the Gateway at Nudgee.  Heading north it's just before the servo and junk food outlets.  I bought mine at a retail store in the Toombul shopping centre back in my early 20's and they karked it a few years ago ... in my late 30's ... I miss those uggs.

My advise ... don't buy a cheap version.  You'll regret it.

i reckon you'd be the type to whinge about it being too hot when it hits 28 degrees though...lol....i work out doors in the sun all day and love Summer, but geez the amount of people who whinge about how hot it is, is rediculous. we don't even have air con in our house, IMHO it doesn't get hot enough to warrant it...lol.

I don't mind the heat so much Rumpig but sometimes the humidity up north kills me - especially if I fly up from canberra  - the transition is too quick and it takes a few days to adjust to being boiled alive in that tropical air  ;D Doesn't seem to bother me much if I drive up over two days. But, yeah, my preferred temp is between 16 to 23 degress  :D

Spoke to a fella the other day about moccasins and he told me that he cannot afford to buy Ozzie sheepskins anymore as it goes overseas to China. The locally made moccys are made from material from overseas. Where can I get a pair??????
