Title: Winter Camping Tips
Post by: speewa158 on May 22, 2012, 08:34:19 PM

Seat Warmers
Sitting by a huge camp fire will melt the soles of your boot , but , your butt may be a chilled numb bum .  The answer is to use an old fry pan or an enamel bowel filled with glowing embers & placed under your chair . Result a really warm butt & a really nice night .
The  glowing embers will last 15 to 20 mins then it time to replace the coals , A shout handled shovel will be handy to reload the embers . Works a treat

I have used bricks, chuck one in the fire, heat it up, use poker to lift and stick under chair, while another is heating up.
The time it takes to cool, and the other to heat up is pretty close to how long it takes me to drink a Wild Turkey :)

Great combo...

I have 2 to share.

1.  Seatcovers.  The lambswool kind.  You can buy them without the rear 'behind the seat' section, just the back and seat.  Brilliant!

2.  Head North.

That goanna would make some nice guggboots. Heading north isn't an option if your life's work is whinging about the cold. Very cold here tonight by the way ;D

A small fire and sit either side of it, along with a quality glass of port, when retiring to bed have a convoluted underlay on your mattress/airbed.

love that sheep skin seat cover idea  :cup:

Cheers
