Well, after 24yrs, the day has come for me to walk away from the Motor Trade (Mech) & do something different. Some Swaggers know what's been going on lately & the support & wishes I have received has been great, thanks all. :cup:So come Monday I will start a new job in a new industry (Horse Racing),as a Mech /Ground Staff, one that doesn't involve cars but still as a Mech with a lot of variety & very little customer contact . I will have a heap to learn fast but that's OK, I think I'll cope.
While the trade has been good over the years the time has come to change, simple as that. I can't think of anything that would make me stay & no point staying where you don't want to be . The new job will be better hours for the family, especially afternoons & a bit more flexible. With some luck , I should end up with more time for camping, fishing 4wding w/ends. Can't be a bad thing eh!!

All the best with the new venture mate

The change will be just as good as a holiday. :cup:
Peace and prosperity mate.

Sounds great.
Well done.
Exactly, 'no point staying where you don't want to be' .

Mate,
All the best with the new venture.
As a self employed chippy I feel ur pain. I too am looking elswhere for work. It seems the govt of this country is happy to watch the big companies grow and the little ones die. I am also over working with/for people, so many unrealistic expectations (thanks reality tv!)
I am sure that with the new direction in your life will come renewed vigour and life!
Cheers Chippy :D

Congrats, Bullfrog, on making such a major decision. Good luck in the future.

Good luck Bevan.
I can understand changing from a long term position to something different, considering the same thing myself after what amounts to 27 years with the same employer. :-\
-
Best of luck with it all Bevan.....a change is as good as a holiday.....
But I'm buggered if I can work out how you're gonna do an oil change on a horse ????? ;D ;D

G'day Mate,
Good Stuff :cup:
Yeah, we'll have to catch up for a couple of (http://www.hairfysh.com/images/Icons/Smileys/next.gif)
If you're not doing any thing next weekend(27th Sunday meeting at the Harwood RoadHouse at 9 am), we are going for a run through Tabbimobile to Whiporie, you're more than welcome to come for a run. I haven't been through that country for over twenty years.
Hey Chippy, I'm hearin' Ya.
It seems at every turn there is some government reg or fee that you have to jump through, just to swing a hammer.

Well, I could have started my own thread but I just decided to add mine to here...seeing as Bullfrog and Tadpole were kept well in the loop about this too.
Just a heads up really for anyone travelling to Wee Waa...please still consider stopping in at the bakery and supporting our town, but please, don't ask for me anymore!
Cause I won't be there! :cup:
I'm off to satisfy that jet fuel burning in my veins! I have got a job with an aviation company, local to here, so I won't be leaving town but am going to be able to enjoy the smell of jet fuel in the morning again! I have managed to get a job which will cover all bases and let me pursue the passion that was inspired in me by my late great husband. Don't know if I'll try the pilot thing yet but stay tuned...I was always promised to be allowed to go for my rotary licence so who knows...this might just be the catalyst for that! At this stage, I'm going to be doing admin duties, assisting with operations and tracking all the chemical use. I also have a few other skills that the company is keen to put to work in regards to my experience with aviation in the Rural Fire Service. I start next week, with a bit of a transition out of one place of work to the other. And I can still do our Cape trip! :cup:
So, if you're passing through here, you're than welcome to catch up, just don't ask for me at the bakery, they'll probably just tell you I'm out at the airstrip anyway! ;D

Great stuff. Living the dream. :cup:
