Hi All
I was just wondering what people use for storage on long trips, do you go for boxes that you can collapse when you have used everything inside or do you go more for the plastic containers
-
Plastic, stackable, folding crates - still going strong after 12 years. If I had more cash (ie less mods to do to my tilly) I'd probably go those solid plastic boxes sold in 4x4 stores (and probably elsewhere), although not entirely sold on them ...
-
Yea, same. Plastic stackable boxes. But get decent ones so you know they will last and know where they fit or live every time you use them.
-
the stackable boxes sound a great idea but where do you get them!!!!
-
Camping stores have great options for the roof, if your going that way. You can get god stuff on-line and Target et` el have plastic boxes. Check that are are not to brittle, some are more flexible than others. Also make sure they will not fly around in the camper/car else they will crack and :'( :'( :'( :'(

Ever tried milk crates, they're free ,just cover the big hole in the side :D

Thanks everybody you have certainly come up with some good ideas, I will check them out

Something like these nuozzie http://www.mooreequipment.com.au/products.cfm?cat_id=235&parent_id=91 (http://www.mooreequipment.com.au/products.cfm?cat_id=235&parent_id=91) or http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110844905627?hlp=false#ht_2222wt_905 (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110844905627?hlp=false#ht_2222wt_905) is what I use - they are pretty robust, can handle jostling and bumping etc and are stackable when full - which means they can handle a fair bit of weight on top of them. I have had a couple in the back of the vehicle for many years and they are still in really good condition. Expensive, but they last well if you get decent ones. In fact I've had quite a few other cheaper ones come and go (disintegrate) in the time I've had the exe ones.

The humble cardboard box can you started. It collapses into a campfire starter ;D
-
Milk crates are a good idea for items that don't need to be sealed up.
The cheaper plastic containers you get from variety stores only last a few years and wouldn't handle the bumps of off road. Stabale are good, so when they are empty they will take up less room.

Heavy Duty Storage black crates are available, Ill be trying these out next as the normal 55 litre white plastic ones usually last a year or two and then get brittle.
They are more expensive tho.

The stack/nest crateshttp://www.plasticsrus.com.au/index.php/Plastic-Storage-Containers-Crates-Over-55L/View-all-products.html are used a lot in commercial settings and are just about indestructible. The lack of lids may be an issue for some.
