Title: Clear Water Hose Concern ?
Post by: dsajfar on May 11, 2012, 02:28:27 PM
I will take delivery of my new Expanda in 3 weeks and have some concerns about the Clear Water hoses used in the Expanda and other Jayco's. My previus experience with my Jayco Swan is that the clear hoses started going green after about 12 months. Has anyone had this problem and is there a solution or recomendation of any sort.. Is it best to replace exposed Clear Water hose or perhaps cover with tape or paint in some way? Any advice welcome.

Keep the sunlight away form the water and it will keep it clean, best to replace the pipes or cover up

Hi,
even some daylight will allow the green algae to grow.
I replaced mine in a previous vehicle with black garden watering system thin walled polypropylene - not food grade or any thing.
Now have to do the same with a new one. Bit frustrating really, it should be well known in the industry.

cheers

Get some corrugated flexible conduit from a electrician. Most sparkies have some offcuts lying around. 32mm should be big enough, cut it length ways and slip it over the hoses. A few cable ties will hold it in place.

There is a standard black beverage hose available to take the place of the clear that is about the same cost I wonder why the manufatures don't use it. Available from caravan accessory shops.
