Title: Anyone hear a massive BOOM in Melbourne tonight?

Our house got shaken with a massive thunder BOOM ... no storms on the BOM site ... it just came out of nowhere.    I know from facebook and twitter that people in Prahran, Bentleigh, Glen Iris and Ashburton heard it.

Anyone else experience it?  Sonic boom?

Yep, we could hear what sounded like thunder here in Ocean Grove ??? Not massive but certainly audible inside with idiot box on.

was the noise close to the Daily planet? I was there earlier... could have been it, specially if it was one loud quick short bang :(

Yes, heard it here in Cranbourne. Thunder apparently, but a strange occurence nonetheless.

Yep, at Surrey Hills there was lightning in the near south west (Camberwell area?) about 7.30pm, followed by thunder and a very brief shower (I think we were on the edge of it).

It will become interesting soon, but my boss still thinks using the company card for that is not acceptable, he may yet get proven wrong.    ;D ;D ;D
