Hi everyone,
We are leaving in 8 weeks for a 3 month trip up through the gulf and across the Gibb and back through the centre. I can't decide if it would be worth packing the flannelette sheets or save space and just take the ordinary ones. Thanks for all the info you will supply and yes I will be taking Ross so I can cuddle him and use him as a bed warmer.

Better to have them and not use them rather than have a few cold nights.
Going thorugh the Centre mid year is always cold. We were there in 2010 and after a night in Kulgera somone had left their pants out overnight and they were frozen solid - they could be held out sideways!!
-
I would take them and leave the cotton ones behind..
It will be chilly every night, and even if it got slightly warm, you can always pull back the doona/blanket and sleep with just the sheets on..
-
I also agree with all above. While for me 16 is cold these days it can get down to zero in the centre and even through the gulf. last year on our way across to Cairns it was very cold then on the way back, not so much. But we only have one set of sheets but you will need a good layer on top.

Geeez, keep it social....... might be kids reading this!!! :D

Yep, take them! Last year we left in June for the Kimberley, did not take much in the way of warm clothes or blankets and when we got to Mount Isa we froze!!!! Went down to 2 overnight and raining.
Try and pack both as it will get hot. Kevin

Yes the Kimberley nights were really nice, NT nights were a bit steamy but as soon as we went south of Katherine and back on the Gunbarrel and Great Central road to WA it was bloody freezing at night (i.e. close to 0).
-
Take them it can get bloody cold, although similar to SteveandViv, 16 is a cool for us. If there's some cloud cover it wont be too bad but it's starting to cool down now.
Barrabart - you funny bugger, I'm now cleaning a spray of beer off the screen from laughter

Definitely take them. We lived towards the middle of Qld for almost 30years and my work often took me out towards the NT border. It is absolutely freezing out there in the evenings in Winter. Don't forget your winter PJ's and socks, you'll need them.
Have a great trip.

Being a resident of the Kimberley, I would say without question, take the shirts. It is getting eskimo time at the moment.

Hey Speewa, how are Lars and Sven?

Hey Speewa, how are Lars and Sven?
From what I have heard about Swedish people, they are probably keeping warm by having a heap of drinks together, and no doubt Speewa is leaving them wondering how an Aussie like Speewa can drink so much.
