This is a serious dilemma I face... do I start him off like the way we all watched them, ie #4, 5, 6, 1, 2 and then 3, or just go 1 through to 6???
Wouldn't 1 to 6 make more sense (chronologically speaking)? But then you run the risk of disappointment (in special effects) when he gets to #1 (the original) compared to 4, 5 & 6? It's doing my head in... HELP!
Cheers. May the force be with you.

The Order they were made, if it was good enough for us then its good enough for our children.
-
Follow the timeline,
By the time you gets to 1, he will be hooked, and wont notice, and you can also retell the "when i was a boy" stories at the same time.
“You can’t win, Darth. Strike me down, and I will become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.” (Quote from Speewa, Episode 4, A new Hope) ;D

the advise of my 12 year old son is 4,5,6,1,2,3.
-
Gee what a dilemma !!! Taking into account what he may have watched with great special effects start with one that has the best effects and go from there.
Be prepared to be let down if he gets up and walks away ;D
May be show him some mad max movies !!!
I feel the force but he may not !! :'(

The order they were made for sure. Something might happen to the time space continuum if you show them in 123456 order. Dangerous..

Start with Running On Empty then progress to Mad Max. The best of Aussie Movies. Problem about star wars is if you start with 1 youre disappointed with the rest.

O.K. now I need parenting help.
I was under the impression that kids would do what they want as opposed to what you want..........???
I would work out what you want him to do then ask him to do the opposite....... ;D ;D ;D
Perhaps I need to spent more time parenting and less time on myswag :'( :'( :'(

He's just 9..
I think 1-6 but get the re-mastered versions of 4-6 that have new effects but don't get the blueray versions of 1-3 so they don't look too good against 4-6 and that way 1-6 and you might be cool
got that?
-
Definately start at number 4. That way he gets to see it the way we all saw them.
Where I think you need parenting help is that you waited until he is 9. ;D
My 2yo daugter is asking for Star Wars.
She is limited to episode 4 though at this stage.
Cheers

I don't think you need parenting help Brian. Maybe we both do!
Our kids did things their way no matter what was suggested. Something to do with being themselves.

Apparently, there are more than two ways to view! You better include the "Flashbacks" methodology!!

4, 5, 6 and spare him 1, 2 & 3... >:D
-
Easy, 4,5,6,1,2,3 then 4,5,6 again
-
Don't forget that this Friday is Star Wars Day .
May the 4th be with you ..... ;D
But then 2 days later it is the day of the sith (6th)
My kids love them all and especially thisStar Wars (John Williams Is The Man) a cappella tribute medley song - Corey Vidal and Moosebutter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk5_OSsawz4#)
12 Y/o image says one to six unless you want to watch the trilogy first then the later 3.
That makes sense to me. Not!
Enjoy.

4, 5, 6 and spare him 1, 2 & 3... >:D
In my professional opinion, this. I think I'd have to report you to DoCs if you made them watch 1,2 and 3 >:D
-
4,5,6,1,2,3, It actually seems to make more sense this way.
That and as others have said after watching the special effects of 1,2,3 it would be like watching a C grade movie with 4,5,6. No kid this day and age would sit through it if they think it doesnt rate compared to the special effects
-
4,5,6,1,2,3
Snowbeone.
-
4,5,6
and punch yourself in the face if you bother with the others ;D

AAhh the memories of the original Star Wars, leaving the old Empire theater with a gang of your mates , climbing onto our X-wing Malven Stars, taking off in formation and dodging hundreds of marauding Tie Fighters, to make the attack run into the darkened trench of the Death Star," Substituted by the side alley between the supermarket and news agents " dodging laser bursts all the way, to launch coke can Photon torpedo's into the opening of the skip bin Death Star, and peel away into the blackness of space ..LOL . Ahh the memories

Happy Star Wars Day !

IME there is no question on differences in Special effects, my Son & his friends did a Marathon over a few weekends & never questioned any of it.
My 7Yo loves all 6, happily for me his favorite is Empire Strikes Back :cup:. He watched them in order 1-6.
