Post by: becboo on April 18, 2012, 07:26:49 PM: Yep I will be first! Hubby and I were out on one of our weekend hunting trips in the basalt country west of Townsville. We were laying in the swag at about 2 am looking up at the night sky when we got "buzzed". We both said a few choice words and then kept looking for them all night.

When they looked at the car and did tests they found burn marks that can only be found on the space shuttle.

Post by: jnik on April 19, 2012, 09:13:04 PM: Damn! I was hoping to get more than one story from this ... oh well, here's mine:

It was many years ago, I was on P-plates and dependant upon my car for a 40k commute each day ... so alcohol was NOT a factor. It was late at night and I was driving my Laser hatchback home along a long, straight country road.

It started as a low whooshing sound coming from behind me ... I looked in the rearview mirror, expecting to see a vehicle of some kind far behind me, but there was nothing, and the sound went away.

But then it was back, louder this time ... still nothing in the rearview mirror, but the sound stuck around this time. A few seconds of this and then a light came over the horizon ... "ah" I thought, "that's what it is ... a large truck well behind me, weird the way the sound's travelling though".

The light stayed above the horizon behind me for a minute or so, not coming any closer.

But then the sound increased significantly and the light lifted above the horizon ... this was my first thought that something weird was going on and I felt a chill down the back of my neck.

Another minute or so passed with the light hovering high some distance behind the car.

All of a sudden there was another increase in the noise level and the light accelerated at an amazing rate (faster than anything I could imagine) as the light sped from it's position above the horizon to directly over the car ... the light disappeared from the rearview mirror as the UFO came up upon the car - I bent forward and looked up through the top of the windscreen, expecting to see it continue to fly over the car, but I couldn't see anything.

The noise was incredible now, and the UFO remained directly above the car. I slowed down, but it still didn't pass over the car. I sped up, it still remained hovering above the car. I did what ever I could think of to get a view of it, but it was directly overhead.

After what seemed like a few minutes of the UFO hovering directly over the car I slowed right down, still the UFO hovered overhead, but now it was quieter ... I didn't know if this was good or bad.

I thought "OK, let's find out, once and for all, what the hell is going on here!" ... I released my seatbelt, pulled over, stopped and jumped out of the car ...

It was eerily silent, but even weirder was the fact that there was nothing to see ...

But then I saw it ... and immediately the whole truth became apparent to me. The car's hatch was open! On the lower edge of the hatch was a light that came on when the hatch was open.

It explained everything ... the noise, the light (and the fact that it seemed to hover over the roof of the car once the hatch was fully open, no mater what speed I travelled at), even the chill down the back of my neck!!!

Only one time of the year though...

Usually...they're buzzing around during the summer months...

They fly really fast, seem to like flying close to the ground and take great delight in buzzing traffic on the road...

They've got great big bright lights and you often mistake them for something else...

Out here...we like to call them...

Air Tractors!!! ;D

Post by: bullfrog on April 19, 2012, 10:24:27 PM: Dunno about UFO's, but while fishing on the beach of a night for Jewfish ( no grog involved, too much to carry) I've seen some funny lights that had me scratching my head. No idea what they were /are..... ??? :cheers:

Something was on my left foot.....looked down to see a red-belly black sliding over my foot and thru my legs and head over to our wood pile...

Must remember to to tell the wife what may be living in our wood pile.... 8)

Growing up, we moved onto a farm. While a new house was being built we lived in the existing (rather run down) house.

My brother and shared a bedroom that was originally the veranda ... the walls that were put up to turn it into a room didn't quite go up to the tin roof (no ceiling).

My brother was standing on his bed to get something off the top of the wardrobe when he saw a blue tongue lizard sitting on the top of the wall.

"Great" he thought "chance to get myself a new pet" (you can see where this is going, can't you?) ... slowly reaches out, the "lizard" turns to look at him, sticks out his tongue ... IT'S NOT BLUE, IT'S FORKED!!!

So, yes, we had a red-belly black snake in our bedroom (not for long though).

There was a nest up there, and he'd made his way up there to turn the chicks into lunch.

You should see these new vacuums they've got! Even more alien looking than an Air Tractor at night and they spit out huge round balls of cotton all neatly wrapped up! ;D
