Mate, thanks for the response,i would have loved to call but due to bad weather our SATphone is currently scrambled . Am buying it for my son who just graduated from Curtin university of technology he lives in perth presently so the bike is going to be shipped to perth.please can i know the full condition of the bike, also know if it is still in good condition , preferably if i can get more close up picture, i will not be able to come for inspection now all i really need from you is the exact details of the bike.
Due to the nature of my work i am a very busy man working all day .i will pay with the fastest and safest online payment "PayPal" so i will need you to send me your paypal email address so i can effect the payment,as i have my bank a/c attached to my paypal account.
PS:
In case you don't have a PayPal account,Its reliable fast, secure and easy to use PayPal,all you need to do is to log on to visitwww.paypal.com and register with them. When you are done with the registration send me the email used for the registration with PayPal so i can make the payment. Please get back to me so that we can arrange for pick up as i will like the bike to be picked by a pickup agent.
Regards.
Just checked my inbox and i found this in there, i am currently trying to sell my bike and i am getting some responces. i think that maybee three of them have been genuine inquires qnd the others have possibly been scammers.
Is anyone else having these sorts of dramas with selling things?
If it is a scammer who do i report it to?
When i do sell it what is the safest way to recieve payment other than cash?
No way is anyone getting my paypal details not happening!
-
Yeh sounds like a scam to me mate. Safest way would be cash or band cheque from one of the major banks. PayPal is safe as houses but what these mongrels do is send you a fake conformation from PayPal that looks legit but normally comes from an odd address. Good luck with it mate

Scam scam scam
I was talking to a friend in the fraud squad about my episodes with these scanners and was told they are getting bigger and bigger and as they are shut down another 5 start up. the best thing you can do is warn as many people as problem....they only operate because so many people fall for them.

Could be or may not be, if he wants to pay by Paypal send him the info he needs ie
pictures of bike but not rego, and your Paypal address.
He can pay by either a instant transfer to your Paypal account or an echeque, if he instant pays
the money is there and he can't get it back. If he pays by echeque then you must wait for the
payment to clear else he can cancel the transaction.
Do not release goods till payment clears, remember also that Paypal will charge you a fee for
money received.
Also Paypal protection may apply so make sure you have proof that the item was as described and
delivered in good condition as if he says he didn't receive the item or it was damaged they could
try to recover the funds.

The wording alone says to me it's a scam. The lack of a "s" on some words (for plurals), plus I reckon you would normally have written "I can't come and have a look at it", rather than writing "I can't come for inspection"..... just "sounds" to me like it's written by someone from another country, trying to sound like a local.
Also the detailed explanation on what paypal is and how to register has alarm bells ringing that this guy is trying way too hard!
-
i dont understand how the scam works
if i give someone my banking details, bsb and a/c number (minus the pin)
they can deposit funds into my a/c, but they cannot withdraw money or even see my a/c balance
-
I have used PayPal many times before for purchases ie: eBay But I have never had to give out my PayPal details to be able to receive money before. My concern is that if I give out my PayPal details can't that person then assume my identity online and make purchases using my name and PayPal account?
-
All you need to do is give them the email address linked to the paypal account. However it smells fishy to me too. simply ask him to call you once the bad wether has cleared...
Cheers!
-
Yeah I agree rotate,
The focus seems to be very much on obtaining my PayPal account.
Anyones knowledge or opinion on this?
-
To pay a private entity, you need their paypal email address.
When buying from ebay and the likes, it is already set up and linked with their email address/paypal address.
But as others said, when someone is asking for your paypal details: DON'T
-
Hi,
I just googled the phrase "am buying it for my son who just graduated from Curtin university of technology. he lives in perth" ]and got lots of hits.
I didn't investigate any further, but it looks like a scam to me.
cheers
-
It is a scam, after giving them your paypal details you will next receive a fake receipt for payment, but they will have over paid you or you will need to pay for shipping or some other bs excuse to get money back from you.
-
Ignoring the scam, just in general, when you purchase something on Ebay the seller can see what your
Paypal email address is, I have used this often to request or refund funds when a buyer has brought
the wrong item.
In the case being discussed here your only supplying the account name ie email address,
whereas if you buy of a website and pay via Paypal your transiting the companies website ie
your login details (user name and password) are being forwarded via the sellers website so in
reality could be less secure than is the case here.
Always check your account to see the money has been received and don't get fooled by bogus
Paypal look alike emails.

Swaggers, the latest e-mail correspondance, all correspondance has been a @gmail account. As yet i cannot write up the persons e-mail address until i can prove 100% that is a scam. For the mean time i will keep posting the correspondance for interests sake.
Thanks for the mail , will be waiting to see more photos , as i believe you can understand that i wont be able to come for the text drive so i have in mind that the detailed photo can give me a better view and idea of what am buying. and please can you firm the price so that we can conclud e on this transaction very soon. thanks
-
Do not even bother replying, this is a SCAM. Do not waste your time emailing this bloke. I cant tell you strongly enough it is a SCAM stay away. Publish the email address so others have it.
-
As singo-26 said they will forward a false receipt (very good false receipt) but they will need money paid to a western union account to clear the funds or pay agent or what ever they come up with. that is the money that they get from the scam and they get millions..
-
I just sent him some more pictures of the bike, minus the number plate, with no rego stickers, vin numbers etc in the photos, might be fun to string him along for awile and post up all the responces as i get them then send all of the corespondance to the relevent authorties. All this info might be helpfull so others dont get burnt!

I know now that this is all a scam so I am having as much fun as possible wasting this persons time. It is proberly someone from overseas who if I report it to crime stoppers or whoever deals with this sort of thing, they will not be able to do anything about it and just tell me that I was lucky not to have been scammed. This person now has asked me for my bank account details and BSB number, of course I am not going to give it to him but I am curious to know how they can extract money out of my account with only my BSB and account number, I would have thought that they could make a deposit but you need the pin number to access my money don't you? How does this help them?
-
If they want bank bsb and account start an account with $1 give them the bsb and account and tell the emailer the bike wont be released till cleared funds are in your account. Scam them back he he.
-
When you've had your fun and want to get rid of him, just ask him to email you at work for a quicker transaction.
Give him your work email address - whatever @ department of fair trading.nsw.gov.auuu.
Bet you never hear from him again.
-
Hi everyone
There is not much you can do with the lowlifes. Even police cant really do much because it is beyond their capabilities. You can report them to the federal police but thy will usually fob you off as they are under the pump as well as local coppers. E crime leave a traile whcih would circumnavigate the world million times over. My partner gets these calls all the time at the local copshop and it is the same story just a different scam. Can't do much about it. Just waste their time by stringing them along.

It is a scam. Guarantee it. Seen this before.
Uses a stolen PayPal account and you'll lose your money three months down the track when PayPal reverses the transaction.

I am having an absolute blast playing this joker along he just sent me the name of the shipping company he wants to use, I googled it and it is a shipping company that operates in the U.K they don't even operate in Australia. You would think that they would have done there homework better (oceans 11 style) and at least come up with the name of an Australian transport company. I just sent him back an e-mail asking him for his name address D.O.B license number so that I can start the transfer of ownership paperwork for him, now that I have asked for this more personal info It will be interesting to see how he responds, if I can get a name, address etc then maybe I have got something to take to the cops, guaranteed it with be fake but it's something. ;D ;D ;D
