Title: Re-painting a Powder Coated surface
Post by: torsion on April 17, 2012, 01:05:23 AM
Touch up, or re-painting over stone chipped / damaged Powder Coating.
How's it done?

When I had my ct made they asked me to get a hammered finish rust guard colour, same colour of ct, so when I have stone chips I buy spray can tins same colour of ct from Bunnings for touch ups.
So you need to know what kind of paint product & brand you have on there.
PS, I can thank Mr Mcgirr for that support  ;D ;D

Hi torsion,

I just use a spray pack of paint in a similar colour. Standard paint prep rules. Unfortunately once the powder-coat is gone it's gone, so all you can do is touch up the chips, etc, with normal paint.

Only trick I know is to make sure that you've got all the damaged powdercoat off before starting to re-paint the section. You don't want moisture/etc to be able to get underneath any flaking powdercoat and get trapped there.

Good luck!
Matto :)

Yeh agree, looks like ill get the hammer powder colour matched into a 2-pak and spray the areas required for touch up.
thanks for the replies.
