Have my own copy on DVD, get to watch it a lot.   ;D

Yep, the Great Escape is a good (if not true to story) movie.

Another good McQueen Film is Le Mans, I have  a copy of that also, along with an original Movie poster from the time, begged from the owner of the Star Theatre in Mansfield when i was 17.

Good trivia Question:

How many times does the green VW appear in the chase?

Answer, 4.

It must be faster than all of them:

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

RONIN for sure. It's a shame so many people haven't seen it. If you have, do yourself a favour and grab a copy on blu ray.  A cup of coffee has never been so intimidating ;)

I remember my 1st trip out to Broken Hill, 1 of my sisters was living there, so Dad said a trip was on. We went for a drive out to Silverton & my brother ( next 1 up in line to the throne) said "Mad Max was shot out here" Dad, not being a big movie fan, said "Wot, woz he a bushranger??" Still laugh at that today.

He did indeed ride it for most of the scenes, but Bud Elkins did the jump, and kept the bike used for many years afterwards... Elkins was also behind the wheel of the Mustang for the "Bullitt" chase. Not to take anything away from McQueen, who was a hell of a driver and rider himself, but generally speaking Hollywood stars aren't allowed to risk death during production of a movie.

http://www.lilesnet.com/kuhn/elkins/index.htm (http://www.lilesnet.com/kuhn/elkins/index.htm)

If you like motorcycles, you need to check out "On Any Sunday", made by Bruce Brown (who made 'The Endless Summer', one of the real classics of surf films). "On Any Sunday" also stars McQueen, although it is a documentary that covers the many uses and facets of motorcycling.

1971 Vanishing Point is by far the best car chase EVER

1970 440 Dodge Challenger..
I must have watched it 2 dozen times even have the DVD   Love this movie

http://youtu.be/pA4ymmXa8rs (http://youtu.be/pA4ymmXa8rs)

Bullit is choice also The Dodge Charger lost how many hub caps in that chase and how many VW Beetles did they pass,   sure they were going in circles...  :)   I would love that 390 Mustang of mcQueens though  :)

Had a treat the other day a drive around the block in a 1970 dodge Charger with a 426 hemi stroked to just under 500 cubes and would you beleive it a 4 speed box. ;D
I just love the old cars the sound, the grunt, the double clutch gear changes. ;D

Pity I was in the passengers seat. :'(
