The old Burketown Pub burnt down early this morning. What a shame, love the old pubs. That one was unique.
(Not sure what happened but I did a thread on this news this morning and it did not seem to get through. I did the preview and then hit the post button and all appeared OK.)
This is one of the news articles. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/queenslands-most-remote-pub-destroyed-by-fire-20120322-1vl2t.html (http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/queenslands-most-remote-pub-destroyed-by-fire-20120322-1vl2t.html)
The pub in 2010 when we were there.

Enjoyed a few rums there back in 2001, $8 a can but they tasted nice. Then stagged back down the road to the van park to sleep it off ;D

A real shame. :-[ A great place for a beer and a piece of Barramundi at the end of the day.
