Hi all
We have finally bought a Camper Trailer ;D
Although it was secondhand, it is only seven months old and has never been used. Has anyone got any advice on waterproofing/weathering the canvas. We currently have it set out in typical tassie weather (raining) and is so far showing a couple of very minor leaks :-[
Any help or advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi RobnJayne,
That's perfect. When the sun comes out let the tent dry out properly. Letting the stitching dry and warm up will shrink it and tighten it all together, essentially.
Happy camping.

Could be a while before we see the sun again ;D

Hi, an emergency fix,,, when out and about,, if you get a leak,, just use the wife's hair spray,, give the outside area a good coat.
Will stay dry for weeks.

Stan,
Do you reckon it would damage the canvas?
I had a squiz on wikipedia and it uses the same glue as used when gluing ply together. So no doubt it works.......

when it drys you can hit it with a water repelant you can get it from camping stores or some hardware store just brush it on let it dry and all should be sealed - but i would not be too keen on using hair spray as if it already has a sealing agent on the canvas i am sure it would remove it

Thanks for the comments and tips.
Well, its been rained on, dried in the sun, rained on, etc, etc. All appears okay, with no leaks :D Its all packed away ready for our first trip at easter. Should be fun for us first timers. Fingers crossed that our Tassie weather is kind to us.
Thanks everyone
