I must have run over a chinaman !!
After deciding on a carrier ( Followmonts) to bring my cargo barrier and another package up from Townsville to Cairns I thought this would only take 2 days if that. Picked up Wednesday 7th March.
After arranging them to pick it up in Townsville I waited for the call to say it has arrived in Cairns. It never came !! I called the branch in Cairns with the con note and they said it has not arrived. Called Townsville office and they said its not there. Hmmmm not good. :'(
After repeated calls to the Townsville office, very hard for them to call me back, they advised they cannot find it.
We will check with the driver etc to find out where it is. 3 days later with no results I finally had the ****es and called a manager. The manager finally calls me back and says we will look into this. You do that I said. Gets a call from another person saying they are now looking at surveillance videos. ???
Then...to top it off I get a call from their Brisbane office today saying how did I wish to pay for the freight charge. Grrrrr, I held my breath and said they have lost the items, oh she says and then I said I gave the girl at Townsville my credit card details you call them.
So the mystery continues, still waiting for a phone call and wondering where the %&*( is it !!!
Not sure whether to post this in the Joke section !!
Any way I might go and play with my camper electrical problems to sooth my nerves. :cheers:

Well I'm still looking for one so it wasn't me ;D Nothing worse than lost freight, I hope it turns up.

This I can understand. Where I live is a fair way into the Great Sandy Desert from Halls Creek. We get mail every Wednesday on a mail plane from Kununurra. You would be shocked to know how frrequently the mail has been to Halls Head, Halls Gap or other locations before it gets here, and that includes registered and certified mail.

your stuff is probably sitting in one of their yards somewhere with no paperwork. i know of atleast one such pallet sitting in one of their yards that has been there for months, nobody knows where it came from or how it got there, and no paperwork to show where it's meant to go.

That's a huge pain in the arse Mark >:( , hope it turns up sooner rather than later,..................but I'm not sure playing with your rats nest of wiring will be very good therapy :D , could I suggest a quiet place and a little cooling drink instead :cheers:

I have heard of this kind of thing before.
A friend owns a coffee machine sales business in Sydney. He was getting machines sent up from Melbourne. They ALL disappeared, these were machines worth retail over 3 grand. The freight company was going to be experiencing a very large insurance issue (not to mention everything else my mate was going to throw at them) and they checked their video surveillance. Sure enough...the truck made an unscheduled stop and the machines were witnessed as being removed from it.
It happens.

I had a similar experience several years ago; I had bought a MIG welder from Melbourne and when it arrived in Brisbane it got lost. With a lot of yelling and screaming from me the freight company were able to track it down on video, where a small contract courier had loaded it onto his truck. When they questioned him he had delivered it to a mate of his who had a welding shop. Long story short, his contract with the firm was ended, MIG was returned to the Brisbane depot and then the MIG was hotshot delivered to me, freight cost was reimbursed into my account.
I hope that you find your roof rack and that the freight company reimburse the freight cost to you.

Hope it all works out Mark. Half the time con-notes aren't worth anything if the freight isn't scanned or recorded correctly. I work for an overnight freight company and the amount of freight we get here on the sunny coast everyday that isn't ours just shocks you. Even freight for other national companies that our scanners won't scan. :cheers:

Good luck with tracking it down McGirr. What a pain.
When we moved up here, the transport company lost our container that held all our worldly possessions. It turned up a week later in Townsville. Was a tense few weeks waiting to find out if everything we had, had just disappeared. The company involved wasn't too concerned either, it's got to be said.
A fortnight ago we had a rocking horse delivered. The box was plastered with "Customer must sign for delivery", "No not leave", etc. We arrived home to find the box sitting in our carport.
Good luck mate - hope it all turns up - I'm sure it will.

A few years ago I purchased an old reconditioned Lister engine and on sold it with the customer nominating the freight company after 3 - 4 weeks of trying to track it down the company that I purchased the engine off contacted me saying that the freight company phoned him asking if he was interested in purchasing a damaged Lister engine off them ??

When we were living in Kununurra our vehicle's injector pump and injectors needed to go to Perth for a rebuild. The vehicle was under warranty so Toyota got the job. After two weeks of ringing them to see how long the vehicle would be, the manager finally rang me back to say that the freight company that picked them up had forgotten to send them and they were still sitting at the depot in Kununurra :'(. Four weeks without a vehicle.

I had a clutch go missing for a week it was sat in a depo in Perth for a week!!!
Also I ordered a roof top tent awning and extras 5 parcels in total......I get 4 delivered and one missing, only the damn tent, nearly two weeks later it was delivered after it went to albany and back to Perth .... Useless

they are all as bad as each other IMHO. i sent a fridge slide with E-Go to W.A a few months back, took ages to get there and it arrived looking like a Banana ::) ::) sent another package to W.A a few weeks back with the same company (arranged by another person) and it arrived perfectly fine and in much quicker time.
it really is hit and miss with all the courier companies IMHO.

I used Followmont Tpt heaps of times and never had an issue, but it only takes one person deciding that they might need what you are freighting more than you do.

I'm happy to go to the depo to have a look for you if it helps, wouldnt be till friday as I am onsite and fly home Thursday night tho...
If they havent gotten back to you by Thursday avro let me know and I will go and pay them a visit >:D >:D
And if need by the following week I am up your way and I can deliver it...... for beer of course ;D ;D

was it insured cause you could end up with a brand new one fitted.
They are all bad but i use fastway, cause they use thier own people each van is independantly owned and they are contracted to fastway so if they get done knocking off a parcel then they loose thier entire bussiness.
To many companies subby out thier work and it can change hands 5 times if they have nothing to loose ..then you do..your item.
they won't care as they subby to 10 different companies loosing some work from one of them won't send em bust.

Sorry to hear of your dramas. It's amazing the attitude of freight companies these days. Contracted Australian Air Express to pick up some freight in Bundaberg, it took them 4 days to pick up the freight because the truck would alwayscome around to pickup after 3 pm when the business closes.
Talk about idiots, with much jumping up and down they sent a special around to pick up the freight, then flew it to Brisbane for the weekend then up to Mackay, where it missed the delivery van, so it went out the next day, I wasn't impressed to say the least.
