Hi Myswagers
With the progression of our 2yr old sleeping in a Cot to a toddler bed, We are on the hunt for a camp bed that has sides that will stop our 2 yr old daughter from falling out of bed. has anyone seen such a thing or has modified a camp bed and added sides?

Mine sleep on the floor in there sleeping bags on self inflating mattress. From the time they were 4mth old and now they are 1.5 & 4 and they love it.
-
We just put his bed (bottom bunk) between our camp stretchers, no dramas.
-
We thought about it a lot, then bought a swag for our 2yr old. She loves it.
-
for our 2YO we just went to toysrus and bought a dora the explorer stretcher. haven't had an incident yet of her falling out, and plenty of length in it for her to grow. she loves it so much that we are not allowed to set it up - she has to do it.
-
a good thread under bunk beds.
-
We started with the cheap low ones from rays, the kids did not have far to fall out of bed and they got used to them. We have just replaced them with proper stretcher beds which allows us to put the bags under the beds.

Mine too sleep on self inflating mattresses with a woolen underlay and then sheets with a down doona. They haven't got far to fall at all!

Thanks for the replies much appreciated.

Our 2yo is on a stretcher. He falls out less than he used to, but not far to go. We find it better than the blow up mattress we started with. Just bought a Kindercot for the 8mo. Light and compact and can keep her contained ;) . If we keep having issues with DS falling out, I think we'll get a swag.

Hi Lil,
Just wondering where you got the Kinderkot from. My wife and I are considering one. Also what are your thoughts on it.
Hope this isn't considered stealing the thread, if so sorry ;)

We have 3 kids, 1 is still in a cot the other 2(aged 3 & 5) sleep sideways in a queen inflatiable bed.
it doubles as a spare bed incase the kids have a bad night an adult can then get in there.
Cheers!!

Fleabay ;) We've only used it twice so far, but love it!!! Little Miss slept all night (as she usually does), it takes up so much less room both in transit and in situ, comes with a self inflating mattress, sleeping bag and sheet which all fits in the carry bag...easy!! The only things I've heard which may be an issue for us is they can be very warm, but they have plenty of screens so air flow is still good.

We had a kinderKot and it worked a dream for our two kids, we purchased it at Baby Bunting from memory. When the kids had outgrown it we sold it on ebay for about 75% of the original purchase price. Have a look on ebay, you may find a bargain.
One tip, a bread tie keeps the zips together so the little ones cannot let themselves out

Up until what age are these kindercots good for? Our boy is about to ditch the portacot.
-
It will be more size than age that determines how long they'll fit in the KinderKot, but I'd say they could fit in there until almost 4yo.
-
We've got swags for the boys (2yo and 5yo) - they love them, no worries about falling out and nice & warm to boot!
-
They say suitable to 4yo, but our (big!) 2yo won't be happy in one. the sleeping area is quite a bit smaller than a portacot. I think if they'd always had a Kindercot then the size wouldn't be as much of an issue as they'd be used to it, but chucking a bigger kid in one would be asking for trouble methinks ;)

our kids sleep on oztrail bunk beds you can set them up as single beds if you want which both then will have side rails or set them up without side rails when child gets bigger.

I had a search on ebay and found these. They look perfect for a toddler and looks to fold up nice and compact and looks simple enough to set up as it only needs to be folded out from the bag. has anyone had any experience with these?
We had a look at a few camp stretcher's today, but our little miss 2 yr old is so tiny on them ;D

Same as Benlachay, we bought the oztrail double bunks, only using one for the 7 yo boy, he has his swag ( cash converters $70, will do him till after he finishes school ) on it and thinks he is Nat Buchanan. Take the legs off and it all packs flat on top of the bed for travelling. It's not the biggest stretcher on the market, but dad ( 74 yo, 6'2", 110 kg) had no trouble using it himself with a bigger swag on top, on a three week trip in Sep last.this type of thing, bought for $90 a year ago at Mango Camping. http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/products/Oztrail-Double-Bunk-Stretcher-Blue.aspx?pid=214554#Description (http://www.bcf.com.au/online-store/products/Oztrail-Double-Bunk-Stretcher-Blue.aspx?pid=214554#Description) You can use the top rail to stop the odd roll out. The 2 yo girl uses a portacot which packs up into the Triton. Our camper has a 12' tent on it which makes all this possible to fit inside.

The bed we bought from ebay arrived today. We are happy with the quality and it's a perfect size for our 2yr old.
