Title: Transporting a camper from Brisbane to Townsville
Post by: Victim on February 22, 2012, 07:17:04 PM
Hi All,

Can anyone suggest a good transport company that would pick up a camper trailer from Brisbane and deliver to Townsville?

I have been looking locally and I cant seem to find a camper to suit the family needs so it looks like I will have to go south to buy...

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

I know its a bit round-a-bout, but if you ring Customline, they use a guy (who I have used but don't still have the details) who is very reasonable and will pick up and deliver pretty anywhere from Melbourne to Cairns. Was by far the cheapest I could find.

ceva will charge the same as a car similar size to the camper,,, as they would both take up the same space on the vehicle

Give Doug a call from Doug and Janelle Johnston Transport, very reasonable and have shifted heaps of campers up this way in the last few years.

Leave Friday, back Sunday   :)

I did it at Christmas for a mate of mine.  Overnight is a great run from here compared to the normal nightmare during the day.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

I fly to Brisbane on Friday and found a decent off road camper trailer that I ended up doing a deal with the guy on..... He agreed to tow it half way!! Saves me doing the whole trip  ;D and saves me a couple of buck!!

Now I have my camper my cape york plans are coming together  ;D ;D... all I need now is duel battery set up.... lift kit and a lot of planning!!

dont know what sort of 4wd you have but i fitted 2inch lift into my patrol using old man emu (ARB) and had them set it up for the wieght of the trailer i tow and have not looked back great on road holds the wieght of the trailer beautifully and flexes its nuts of  when 4wding with and with out the trailer. the set up is a bit exspensive but really worth it i think.

as for the duel battries that is also ARB and hsa been trouble free since fitting 2 years ago.  same age as the suspension. if you can do it order and fit your excessories all at the same time,,,, this will give you more pull when hitting them up for a discount saved me 15% over all when i did it. good luck bargan hard.

Thanks hekarewe

Yeah I messaged "drivesafe" who is on this forum who supplies dual battery kits so I am seeing what he recommends..

As for the lift kik, I have a 2004 100 series V8 cruiser, I havent looked into it much yet so thanks for the advice, I do already have airbags in the rear for when I am towing my boat although I will do some research to see what is recommended for the cape!!!
