Title: Drawer slides
Post by: McAbouts on February 14, 2012, 06:52:52 PM
Hi all,

Hubby is building a slide out drawer for the camper trailer and rather than me search endlessly for where we can get some drawer slides, I thought I would ask here first. So if anyone has an idea or has purchased drawer slides we would love any info/help you can give us.

Cheers
Louise :D

I got both of mine off evil bay. I think the store name was Rusty 4 x 4 or similar. They have been great.

Hi

Where you get them does depend on how much  weight they are going to carry.

Light weight = bunnings.  Heavier weights = ovesco.com.au or similar

We must have different stock in our Bunnings up here. Our local Bunnings now stock draw slides up too 1m in stroke and have carry weight of 350kg each.

Hee hee

Must be.  Ours are about 300mm long and can support a drawer full of socks.....

Looking at ovesco site the price goes up pretty quickly when you start looking at length and weight.  I would be interested to know who has build a home made slide for a 60 litre engel and what length/extension and weight capacity drawer slides they used.

Burnsy,

here is my drawer build thread for our 60 litre Engel.

It is great, I did have a problem with it sticking on our big trip in August but a little squirt of WD40 fixed that. I have a feeling it was caused when I sprayed on the glue for the carpet.

I made one for my 40l engel using the 650mm slides from the seller above...

Hi all again,

What about plastic slides or skids? The drawer is a big one to go in the camper with some drawers at the end to use as a pantry (off to Fraser soon and don't fancy the dingoes in my gear). we have a tailgate kitchen on the camper so need to factor that in as well. as always in life, time is short, so we are considering all the options. thought plastic (or whatever) slides might be quicker in the construction phase.

cheers

G'day McAbouts, i used poly boat slides under my draw system and they work quite well, they are fairly cheap about $13 bucks for 1.2m length from memory, my draws are part way down the first page.http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=15012.msg302737#msg302737 (http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=15012.msg302737#msg302737)
Cheers Jacko

Those poly boat slides are what Lifestyle use on their new slide out drawers.

Great work on the drawers, light strips and light switches Jacko. Nice looking trailer.

Thanks for all your help. We are thinking plastic slides for under the big drawer but have got some drawer slides for two pantry drawers at one end. Got onto eBay and within a week they have arrived. Cheap as chips. $13.98 for two sets. Brilliant. CJDealsdirect were the company and the product is perfect. Can't recommend enough. I was very surprised to see hubby pottering with his next plans in the shed after a long 12 hour day at work. There was even a hammer going at one point. The drawer system is on track. Fraser here we come.

Cheers
