Nothing like over east in the last few hours, but in the last couple of weeks we have had nearly 400 mm out here in the Great Sandy Desert and Tanami Desert. Fortunately this was over a three day period 12 days ago.
-
Don't have a rain guage but I emptied the pool down at least 200 mm at 11:30 last night and it was back full again at 6:30 this morning. Emptied the same amount out before I left for work this morning.
-
according to the BOM Radar, 250mm in the last 24 hours, and 365mm in the last week
-
10mm.
For a change we ain't getting dumped on. But the tail end is headed our way

Those who know Helensburgh, will know it is always raining here, we have our own weather pattern in The Burgh ;D
Hope all you guys in N/East NSW and S/East QLD are OK.

75mm on Monday nights then another 25mm during the day yesterday, and another 112mm last night south west of Beaudesert.
My daughter's school is closed due to flooding. My wife tried to drive into work about 1 hour ago (9:30am) but Beaudesert town centre is cut in two by Spring Creek which runs through the park to those on the east can't go west and vise-versa. She turned around and came back home. The long straight stretch of Mt Lindsay Hwy just south of town has also just gone under and the Logan River bridge on Mt Lindsay Hwy at Laravale will go under shortly and cut the Mt Lindsay there also.
Up at Jimboomba, Millstream Rd has gone under (no surprise there) and also Cusack Lane at the Henderson Bridge is impassable.
cheers

Over 210ml in the gauge since Sunday evening, Lawremce NSW
Bom reckons at their auto weather station about 15'k away just up the road 29mm in the past 24 hours, which I find hard to believe, cause people around here have recorded over 200mm in places.

I'm from Bellingen NSW otherwise known as the town that invented flooding.
I have no idea of actual rainfall in scientific terms........just that's it's been a sh@# load over the last couple of days and there's lots more predicted.
And being extremely lucky I have not one, not two but three different water systems to negotiate before I even make it to town. The first is our creek straight out of the forest and she's gushing along, next is the bridge on our road which is normally over the Kalang River (today she's one mitre underwater) and then of course in town there's the majestic Bellinger River, which is naturally enough, flooding. There's also a landslide on the road up the mountain to Dorrigo. Oh the joys of living in the bush. :-*
Add to that that my 4x4 is in Coffs Harbour getting serviced and I have a Holden Commodore loan car sporting a flat tyre and you start to get the picture >:(
The Missus was expecting me to pick her up yesterday at the airport. No chance! She's staying with friends in Coffs & will probably need to for several days yet. So it's not all bad news. What's that they say about 'every cloud & silver linings'? ;D
I have plenty of supplies, access to Austar, fresh coffee, beer & wine and no wife to tell me what I'm doing wrong until the water goes down.
Life is good!!!!

180mm in last 24 hrs. Areas around the NSW/Qld Borders & hinterlands, over 500mm in 72 hrs.
-
180mm in 24hrs to 9am this morning and only 23mm since then. And to think we cancelled out on a weekend away due to the weather. Now they are talking phase 2 from Saturday with more heavy rain coming here. Who knows. All a big guess. Just covering butts.

Bendigo central Vic 6mm about 2 weeks ago.

173 here yesterday (Springwood way). Not much really. Another 15 today. Hoping for a bit more. Took me an extra 30 mins to get to work as my usual creek crossing was flooded (Marsden).

Not a great pic, but I was on my way to work ...

Cheers mate,
Our saving grace is that most of the rain hasn't fallen in the upper catchment as this stage.
It mainly been kinda coastal. It's a Big River system, so it can take a lot, the next weather system moving down might be a worry tho.
Took a drive to Grafton this morning for our fortnightly shop, the water laying everywhere is a sight to behold.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I've had enough rain! We have arrived at Arrawarra at Darlington yesterday and it hasn't stopped raining since. Good time to find out the camper leaks like a siv. We have camped in the odd shower and rain, and we have never had so much water coming through the seams. Off to coffs tomorrow if we can make it to buy a tarp and poles to cover over the whole setup. The grass is so soft you sink ankle deep everywhere u walk. Permanent residents have been told to evacuate with the king tide expected to make it worse.
Anyone have ideas on the best way to put a 30x36 tarp over the top to have it so its not touching the camper?

The bladders from Casks of wine, Goon Bags
:cup:
Works a treat, even in the hot months to help with air flow.

That's a great idea Hairs. Guess we have some drinking do! Would you normally use a spreader bar across the center?
-
Gday Nate
Pool noodles also work OK. Run a rope through the hole in the centre to tie them in place. How long are you camped for mate??
-
Camped till Sunday mate. Guess we will probly be packing up in the rain too.....The floor bottom is going to be a mess.

When we had our trailer tent, we let the tarp rest on top of the campers canvas & frame work, I had replaced all the internal poles and spreaders with stronger ones than the ones supplied, also added spreaders to that frame work as well.
The tarp just laid over the top with poles and ropes.
Have a look here, Our Previous camper (http://www.hairfysh.com/index.php/41-home-page/80-old-camper-07-09.html)
It may give you some ideas.

We used 90% shadecloth under the flooring as well as in the annex area, stopped a lot of muck sticking to the vinyl.
Hope it works for you.
-
Hope the weather fines up for you. We have been past your front door twice lately but have been on a deadline & didn't have time to call in. Say hi to the Cook for us Nate.
-
+1 noodles. also if you have any exposed pole ends put a hole in a tennis ball and wack it on the pole end. saves the tap and gives a bit more space between tarp and canvas

I put an old blue tarp under the main floor. We use 1 layer of shade cloth for the annex area. The ground is so water logged that muddy water squashes up through your toes through the shade cloth.

Yeah, when it's that wet there is not a lot you can do.
For were the main traffic flow is, have you thought about the mats with the inch round holes in them, the ones that lock together, they may help to some degree, I know, just more stuff to cart around and find some where to pack.

I live in the west coast of Tassie, what a silly question ;D

Late start. Should be a good wet then. Get your cherabin net ready and head out to the fitzroy river ;)
-
Close to 400mm in a week, not good with a wet CT.
Regards
-
In the last hour, we've just had 25mm. Whilst I realise that this is nothing compared to the 500mm that Dorrigo has recently had, it sure is enough for here, where everything is flat and the water doesn't go anywhere. It's still raining too.
-
My rain-o-meter is showing a whopping 6mm. At least it's soaking in this time rather than giving all my top soil to the neighbours down the hill (which I'm sure they did appreciate).

Nothing here for ages (months) and if it did it would dry up before it hit the ground its that hot...... just got off the phone to a mate in Wanganuii ( lower part of the Nth island NZ ) and he is sitting in front of a bar heater with his tracky dax and a wooly jumper ( not a sheep he assures me ) poor bugger is cold and he said it has been raining for the most of 4 months ... sounds like the UK :cup:
-
I'm starting to think I should have one of these to go camping .....

HEY HAIRS'....UTE STOLE YA CAMPER!!!!!!!!
-
Well, we ended up with 60mm in two hours. It's still raining here now.
If we get up to 6 inches, we'll be looking at flooding here again. Considering the forecast for the next few days, don't be surprised to hear about us getting cut off again. Don't worry, we'll be right! We've done it before!! ;D
-
Ya wanna swap Duchy ?? ;D 1st dry today for about a week. Jason's place is a tad damp ATM....
-
108mm in the last 3 hours with more coming on the radar.

-
Will somebody swim out & empty the rain guage thanks
-
2mm last night and looks like another 2 is falling now.
Man it's been muggy today. I remember as a kid we got storms every afternoon through summer ... pity that doesn't happen now.

No good rain to speak of in MEL since Christmas day. I wish it would come soon as my garden needs a good soaking.
-
8mm in engadine this friday
-
It would be easier to say how much we haven't had. It was dry yesterday , between the storms anyway.

Yep, Another down pour this Arvo, at lest it cooled things down :D
-
Got a nice storm last night while camping at Wivenhoe, nice & steamy to pack up this morning though it was dry and all canvas was dry too. Got home & have had another storm go through this arv.
-
we got 42mm in 15 minutes on Thursday afternoon here at my place, and have had another 51mm in about 20 or 30 minutes this afternoon. looking at the radar we are still a chance of more rain tonight (is actually raining lightly at the moment), though don't think it'll be too much more.
-
70mm in 25 minutes this arvo.. Bloody hell it came down. Was driving home through about a foot of water on Springwood Rd!
-
Sheesh Mate,
It's amazing how much rain is falling in some of these storm cells.
You reckon Levuka will be wet at Easter?
:cup:
-
MrBitchi,
I'm just up the road from you and we only got 10mm if that. But geez it flogged down at Brown Stains near where I work. Sideways rain at that!!
Kit_e
-
Yeah, Hairs. Looking good ;D
Kit_e_Kat9, You know Springwood rd, imagine about a foot of rain over the road up near the reservoir!
-
Hi Kit_e,
That's the thing that has stuck out over this summer, it's the amount of rain that has fallen in patches.
We are in Lawrence NSW, We can have it raining cats and dogs, yet 10 k's away they have nothing at all and watch it go past. We had over 360mm three weeks ago in a week, less than 10km out the road they had less than 150mm and are about to have to buy water, they're on tank water.
Crazy stuff.
-
Kit_e_Kat9, You know Springwood rd, imagine about a foot of rain over the road up near the reservoir!
Yeah I can picture that. Coming off that centre road division from up the hill a piece. Ever skated on the reservoir?? There is a great view of the industrial area from there. Next time you are heading north, I'm in the next valley on the other side of the hill above the Springwood SS.

Completely agree with that. I work 15k from home and whilst it buckets down at work, we can have next to nothing where I live. Crazy indeed!
Kit_e
P.S. Levuka is gonna be a mushy bog I reckon ;D I've been watching the storms head that way for months.
