Hi Guys. I thought I would see what other cars, bikes, boats, etc you also are passionate about besides the CT....
I'll start with my 1976 SS Torana which is becoming harder to find as the years go by. I love it the wife hates it ;D
Cheers

Toys are what keeps the interest in life is it not?
I have in the garage currently in too many pieces a 1970 VG Valiant Pacer Coupe that I am doing a full restoration on.
I have the nissan Patrol that always demands a new accessory or a modification to be done to it. On the upside the wife drivers the Patrol daily so doesn't mind when extra power comes into play.
I also have a few nitro cars that only ever occassionally make it out of the garage for a quick burn.
I also have a mini losi elec crawler which is cool to play with on the kitchen table and annoy the wife with......
I also have the trackabout.
I think the next item on the agenda is a larger property so that I can have all my toys in the one place.......
-

Very nice Weso, My grandma has an EJ in her garage as stock as it was when the it rolled of the floor at the GMH factory, no seat belts...standard radio etc still in tact.
Cheers
-
Hey Weso
Only been in two (worthy) accidents in my life, both in EH's. I have a 8" scar round my LH knee cap inflicted by the ashtray from the first smash. It was a brand new EH at the time. (23/12/64) They didn't have seat belts in the front middle seat where I was, only the driver & front passenger and it was not cool to wear them then.
I'd still like to have a EH though as they were the best looking early Holdens. My earliest was a HT PV with a 186, stage3 head, 45DCOE weber, extractors, a Datto 1600 4 speed & 350 Monaro front end. Formidable beast, 10MPG but lotsa grunt. Lived on the beach in Sydney & rust got to it too bad to keep rego in the end.
-

Love it! I learnt to ride a motor bike on one of these. don't ask me how many logs I dragged my Honda 90 over on a 32000 acre property.
Maybe not a big boys toy, but I have a lot of fun with this and a few other things in my tiny shed

I haven't got any decent photos, but I do have a Honda CBR1000 in the shed. Its a 94mdl. I got it a few years ago when the council said they were going to seal our road. Thought it would be a good cheap ride to work. Then I got a work car and free fuel so didn't really need it then. But I can't bear to part with it, its lots of fun to ride. SWMBO does go on it with me occasionally but she wouldn't do some of the trips I would love to do, like Mt Hotham and places like that.
So one day there might have to be a Myswag road bike trip for a day up to Hotham and a few of the fun roads around. :D

give ya some tyres for it :P
Im upto about bike #50 currently..
-
I've only ever had the 2 bikes, my Honda and before that had a 90mdl TT250. I don't count my Yamaha 4 wheeler as it is a farm tool, not a fun toy.
TT was fun, but I got rid of it when I thought I was going to kill myself on it. So took the safer option and got a 1000cc road bike :D

My old man had a CBX 1000 (I think) of about the same era. It had a straight 6 mounted transversely.
Was heavy on the corners but very quick in a straight line.

This is one of my current toys,
I bought this as I finally decided that getting a legitimate licence for a bike is much MUCH safer than riding without lol.
So that meant that I was restricted to what I could ride. This was by far the most enjoyable bike to scoot around on in the lams category for me.
It is a 2013 Ninja 300 Special Edition (my baby ninja) Even when I get a bigger bike at the end of the year, I will more than likely keep this one as it is a fantastic commuter and great out on the twisties.

Here's some old photo's of my even older bikes believe it or not they were cool bikes when i owned them but they seem a little dated well a lot dated after looking at some of the bikes posted up here. I still love the older bikes though plenty of character i reckon.
First is the old Trident 750 i didn't own this for long i swapped it for a V8 HQ
(http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd425/1smokescreen/Trident750_zps8ef27eb7.jpg) (http://s1219.photobucket.com/user/1smokescreen/media/Trident750_zps8ef27eb7.jpg.html)
The second and my favorite 73 Kawasaki H2 750 triple this old two stroke wasn't the best looking bike and was probably the worst handling bike ever made but i could never wipe the smile off the face every time I rode it. I sold it to a bloke who crashed it fairly quickly then dropped the motor into a hillclimb dirtbike frame one word lethal.

The third which was cool back in the 80's was a 1987 GSXR1100 better known as a slabie or ironing board model because it had no curves. This bike had a 1172 bigbore kit yoshi cams major head work big clutch and a big set of flatsides to feed the avgas through. This was the first bike i owned that cracked 300kph not bad back then on a bike that handle like crap at high speed. I think every bike does 300kph now in standard form but i think it's more fun when you have to hang on for dear life.

The last bike was a 1973 GT Ducati 750 a very straight and original bike I was the second owner.

Royal children's hospital?
Charity ride sounds like an awesome idea. Best bet to maybe let Firefox organise the donations though, GG already got his 200series
(Sorry mate couldn't resist!)

Hmmm, a Good Friday ride.
Yep I agree someone else needs to be the holder of money, though Firefox is looking at a 200 also isn't he?! Need to pic a mod without a Toyota I think!

Yes excellent point!
Back on topic, the other "toys" I have is my air rifle and 410 shotgun. Certainly not toys in my eyes, but I do use the air rifle for fun target shooting at home. Just random bits of junk to shoot at. I am not, and never will be, good enough fort competitions or anything like that, but it is something to till in the 3 milliseconds of spare time I get a year....
-
I use to have an Omega with a Leopard 125cc. Was great fun to race. Sold it a few years ago :'( It was my "Third Child".

Late last year I picked up a Tony Kart with a PRD 100cc Reed Valve. Just as quick as the 125's. It's a bitumen frame, but does the trick whilst getting use to racing on dirt. Looking in the next couple of months to get back into an Omega for the Dirt.

I just built this. I'm in the process of painting it. Will launch on a wheat farm near Meandarra at the end of June. Should get close to 12000' up, at a speed of roughly Mach 1.5. Next year I'll put a motor in that will push it to 14000' @ Mach 1.7. The fins are so sharp I cut a finger on the leading edge while I was setting up.
Photo is the setup of the parachute ejection tests I did yesterday. You can see the tests here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB2eBPHeSjY) and here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCMmQSO-raE).
If anybody is in the neighbourhood of south west Queensland in mid March next year, you should get along to Thunda Down Under (http://thunda.com.au/). It will be the biggest high power rocket launch ever held in the southern hemisphere. Bush camping on a massive wheat farm. Projects from all over the world, including a full size replica V-2 missile from Victoria. Open to the public. You won't see something like this in Australia again for a very long time.

You must have good neighbours!
2 doors down is a cop!
I've lived here for nearly 20 years. Most of my neighbours have been here as long or longer. They're all used to my hobbies. When I moved in I had a speedway car. I live fairly quietly.. most of the time. ;D

Please do. It's about 80ks west of Tara along the Surat Development Rd, near the Meandarra-Talwood Rd turnoff. This trip and launch in June is to finalise logistics for next year, so the website will be updated with more info a bit later. I'll be sure to start a thread as things get closer.

Whats the old saying. 'Drag Racing. Where too much horsepower is barely enough.'

Yeah, but has he raced it yet?
The drag strip is best place to test dyno figures.
IF it was mine, it would've on the track 10 minutes into the ownership.

That's a horn looking Car, you should be very proud of it.
How things have changed in the horsepower stacks these days though.
Once, if you said you had 800HP at the rears, people would have fell about laughing.... but now.... holy mother of god.
Its not that hard to do, and its reliable and driveable.
Sh!t, we run a 14:06 in the early 80's '\ at Surfers in a mk11 Zephyr and had 445HP in a Datsun 1200 in the early 90's, which was more fun than should be allowed and yeah, it was a streeter. ;D >:D
I'll try to lift a photo or two of stuff I've owned or been involved with over the years on the week-end.

I launched my rocket. Just shy of 15,000 feet up @ Mach 1.6. The rocket is 6 feet long, so that should give you an idea of the size of the exhaust plume.

Can one of those rockets be mounted, say on a bonnet of a Jeep, for lets say, the purpose of disposing of slow drivers in front of the already mentioned Jeep?
OH, and how much would it cost please?
-
That looks like fun, what happens when it reaches max height?
-
That looks like fun, what happens when it reaches max height?
It has altimeters that detect it has started on the way down and they activate charges that break the rocket apart and eject a small parachute (the drogue). That brings the rocket down fairly quickly so it doesn't drift away in the wind. When it then gets to a preset altitude, the altimeter activates further charges that blow the nose cone off and ejects the big parachute (the main) which slows it right down for a gentle landing. Then you have to find it.. I installed a GPS tracker which let me drive right to it. The first photo shows all parachutes out (from an earlier, lower flight), and the second is where we found it after the big launch. The little dots on the right hand side of the horizon is where we launched from.

No problem. I'll start a thread in the trips forum when registrations are open. It's a fantastic location to camp, too. It's a family affair, so bring the billy lids if you have any. The kids will have the chance to choose a rocket and fly it, then take it home. I've gotten started on building a couple this afternoon.

Very nice - looks like a few of us have Stang's on here! I mucked around with Falcons as a young fella but the thing that amazes me is the amount of parts and bits and pieces available for the Stang's - the 65/66/67 are very well served so keeping them nice is that much easier!
My 67 was imported by a Diplomat in 67 and has been registered ever since - still left hook which makes highway overtaking - "interesting" at times!
Enjoy your little horse

Nice, it was an interesting show, there were some original looking Mk1s there with some pretty serious mumbo. One of the Harris engined ones could lay down 12s quarters, yet looked like grandma's sunday drive!
Next week they take on the restoration of a Mk 1 Landy.

I watched it and enjoyed it, will have to remember for next week

Yeah, it was interesting. Pretty general stuff, though. I would have liked a bit more mech info.
Kay had a MkII years ago. Couldn't quite do 12's.........

50 gems, now that's a collection!
My first car was a tidy little TF SLX, I've always had a soft spot for them!

Pick the real one
I don't think that worked :-[

Yea and I have prolly owned it! Had just under 500 of them since August 2000, I specialise in parts for them, pretty much the last guy doing it these days it seems
-
Walking around the streets this afternoon with the dog within a km of home I noticed 3 really good condition unmolested ones. All late 70s and early 80's.

they were tuff little cars...a good mate had one 20 years back we used to abuse the living daylights out of. We used to see how fast we could go in 2nd gear in it, who could do the biggest decompression lock ups in it etc etc.....never did kill it...lol

Pity you know SFA!
Tassie can supply 100% of its powers needs to supply it's B&W tvs and electricity cars down here from green clean hydro electricity.
Don't need to rape and pillage groundwater supplies to provide cheap gas supplies like up north.
My work car gets charged twice a week at at the grand cost of $2.50 for the 200 plus km it does.
And, it will beat that GTHO of the mark to 60kph! At 100kph it will be half a second behind - 6.5 versus 7 seconds.

Mods......
Mace has gone and stuck an electric car in the Big Boy's Toys thread and that's just plain wrong, anyway you wanna look at it.
Oh, by the way Mace, it's no good telling me I know SFA, as I've already known that for years and the wife reminds me every now and then in case if I forget it. ;D

Nah ...series 2 ..220KW ..NO:16 of 12 built..... silly tickford numbering system...
Note the chrome surround in the grill to identify between series 1 and 2/3...
It Was supposed to be in the NSW all ford day today but pulled out so I just took it for a drive.
It is a very nice car to drive.

yeh prices are heading back up,(unfortunately or fortunately if you own one).
I had a tight budget too and was set to buy a S2 AU XR8 5spd ,220kw leather, sunroof etc... but got shafted on it.. I was deflated and gave up looking.... then on the net about a week later remembered this was for sale on another forum.
The owner was desperate to sell made him an offer in which he abused me for.......... than contacted me a week latter apologized and accepted less $$$$$.... ;D
I flew down to Adelaide handed over the cash, filled the tank and drove it back to Sydney by the next morning...
It got 700ks to a tank.... it was an awesome drive home
Id Like a Red T2 TS50 manual as well to park next to it in the shed..... but I have to save my pennies again..
