Title: Maglite 3D Cree on special again
Post by: Wortho on January 18, 2012, 02:06:32 PM
I see that Hardly Normals has the Maglite 3D Cree LED torch on special again for $29 + delivery ($15 CAP). I picked one up last time and the output and build construction is pretty impressive for $29, its a big torch though that takes 3X D size batts so not pocket size that's for sure.

You can also pick up from their outlet in Auburn to save postage.

Another one for the "what cheeses me off" file.....Any gadget that takes three (3) batteries!!!! >:( >:( >:(

Why can you only buy batteries in multiples of four????

It's called marketing.  If an item required 3 batteries to run, you produce packs of four. If an item need 4 batteries to run, you produce packs of 3. Must have been created by Woolworths the greedy people. >:(

Another of Gerry's scam marketing ideas, or did they actually advertise that you can only get this from one store this time ;)

Good price except when you have to pay the postage too......

Good price except when you have to pay the postage too......

Fantastic price, even after you add the postage .......... I bought two on Wednesday night and they were delivered today. Have you checked the ebay prices???

It was actually cheaper for me to buy two of these than it would have been to do an upgrade to LED on my 4 x D cell Maglite ... if I could still buy the upgrade kit for the 4 x D.

Stevo

BTW, thanx for the heads up Wortho

I used my LED Maglite the other day and realised the old non LED Maglites need to be retired. Has anybody found a reasonable LED upgrade for them? I can't bare to chuck them in the bin.

I know. I have an old 6D "baseball bat" that runs halogens. Love to LED it,but when i picked up a 3D LED for $35 at the big green toolbox, it hardly seems worth payng for the upgrade anymore

Thanks, I didn't know Bunnos sold Maglite's. Looks like I'll get a couple to replace my trusty old 4D & 6D. The 3D I bought on a COTD special kills them.

Catch of the day have the same special and it comes with a set of Duracells.

https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/event/22078 (https://m.catchoftheday.com.au/event/22078)

Also, I upgraded my trusty 6D about 12 months ago with an LED upgrade and the thing is brilliant now.  It wasnt that cheap but I reckon it had more light output and the battery lasts forever, here's what I used:

I bought the AA version in a spunky blue colour.

Pretty impressed, much better than my old AA maglite.   Has an 'SOS' function of flashes, and can use 25% power or full 100% power as well as the spot or spread beam adjust.  (turn it on and off enables this function)

The AA was 'normally' about $28,  I got it on special,....so 30 somehting dollars for the 3D is a a good buy.

Guess the big ones also have this feature?

Post by: D4D on August 04, 2013, 01:13:05 PM
That annoys me with the newer torches which is why I went back to the good ol' Maglite. Push button for on and push button for off, none of this flash, half power stuff.
Title: Re: Maglite 3D Cree on special again
Post by: cruisindub on August 04, 2013, 01:20:08 PM
Although, I could imagine of you were to forget about the feature, then youd be chucking out alot of batteries thinking they are on the way out.

I like it.    Whether or not I use it is another story, but at least its there and if I want it.

I wouldnt mind the P7, but just a bt too exxy for me. Besides, wife would crack the sh1ts if I bought another torch.

How did the ultrafire compare?

Theres no comparison the ultrafire feels like my  magnalite only a little shorter but the brightness is something I have never seen before on a torch. The downside is battery life, i'm only getting 3-4 hrs on full power with it but I will be carrying the 18650 rechargeables with me so shouldn't be an issue. The lowest power/light setting on the ultrafire is about the same as on the 3d maglite..

Or If you want some real power and don't mind the price do a youtube search for the 'led lenser'
