12 months since the carnage of Toowoomba, Grantham, Murphy's Creek and surrounding Lockyer Valley areas and subsequent Ipswich and Brisbane areas. My thoughts, and I'm sure all Myswaggers, are with the people affected. Many, if not most, are still going through hard times.
Let's hope the pressure applied to insurance companies that refuse to pay due to fine print of what they say is, or isn't, a flood will make them come to their senses. These people paid their premiums with the understanding they were covered for floods and then found out they were not covered. That is a crock in my books.
Lets hope for some good resolutions in 2012.

Those lost on that tragic day will always be remembered and a few are still to be found.
The day a Tsunami came to Toowoomba, Grantham, Gatton, Laidley, Murphys Creek and other lesser known communities such as Lowood, Fernvale, Esk ... will always be something to be remembered. I know that they are still (ever so slowly) putting their lives back together (with little or no help from Insurance Companies).
I suffered no losses at all in 2011 from any weather event, but felt the heartbreak none the less.
Well okay, I got flooded in camping a time or two, tested the canvas for water proofing ability as well as against hail and torrential downpour ... but my home life was spared any sort of issue ... $hit ... I could still make it to work ... AND I count myself as very, very lucky.

i had the unfortunate task of trying to coordinate the respond to this crisis plus issues in Lowood, Toogoolawah and Esk... not a good memory.... but we did save many people so I am satisfied with that...

I past through Toowoomba before new years and camped at Esk. It's hard to believe its already been 12 months since the devistating floods that I watched on tv from Victoria. I picked up a hard cover pictorial book in the news agents at Dicky Beach at Coloindra and all the proceeds goes to the flood victims.
Cheers

driving through the streets of areas effected by the flooding, it's sad to see how many houses are still abandonded and boarded up. :'( :'(
on a positive note though... i have a thank you bbq to attend this weekend at Chelmer with a heap of mates, it's at a friends house where we all spent time cleaning up after the water subsided. out of all that happened 12 months ago, afterwards showed just how great Australians can be, when so many people dug in and helped with the clean up.
