Title: Goldstream Storm 2008
Post by: Savageone on January 09, 2012, 07:59:09 PM
Gday all,

Thanks for the great forum and all the good info.

At the moment I am  considering a 2008 Goldstream Storm with most of the options, offroad pack, independent suspension, 15'' alloys, hot shower ect.

From an initial quick look it appears to be in good condition.

I have a few questions if some one could help me out.

Are the 2008's any more (or less) robust/reliable than more current models.?

The 2008's all seam to have a significantly heavier (deeper) frame (drawbar) than the later models, it looks about 200mm deep, any reason for this?

Would a 2008 build be regarded as a little dated, how much weight is placed on build dates when buying and selling?

I'd like Air Con and this one dose not have it, is it worthwhile retro fitting Air Con or should I keep looking elsewhere?

Any helpfull info regarding the Goldstream Storm would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Cheers Sav

Hi Sav, welcome to myswag.

The beauty of buying a Goldstream, especially a Storm is the design hasn't changed much over the years and they're a very robust camper. My 2006 Wing is pretty much the same as a 2011 Wing. The chassis is from Preston chassis and the later models like the one you're looking at have Cruisemaster suspension. Air con can be fitted later. If you're in MEL the Goldstream Service Centre are the guys to talk to. I had my Wing inspected by them prior to purchase.

Hi sav, as a recent goldstream buyer, i recently had many of the same questions and have reasoned with myself over the last year or so. Finally settled on a 2007 gs storm with some compromises but at a decent price. ;D

As for what you are asking, the build quality seems to be very similar through out the years looking at his forum and others. The 2007 interior has not really dated.

As with all these things would love to have go one with air con too, but compromised and thought I'd add it o the ever expanding list of to dos! Still very happy with the purchase - I don't think I ever saw one with everything I wanted, so had to decide on what was important for the right price!

Good luck what ever you decide!

Tim
