Went out to Balgo on Friday. (Close to where the Tanami & Canning Join). On the way back there were some serious down pours. Thought you might like to see. It's easy to see how quick it floods. The road from the Tanami to the great Northern is closed now. it took all but 20 minutes and it was all over but the flooding was amazing. Funny thing is I'm trying to get out there in a few weeks to do some comms work and was hoping to drive two new Ambulances out there to carry the gear, not sure if we will make it now but gee it would be fun

Just a little bit of water coming down there ;D
I remember when we lived in Kununurra, there would be down pours that would near flatten you but you could walk 10 yrds away and the ground was bone dry.

Was good to see the rain mate. While there has been a bit out back, so to speak and there is a flow in the Fitzroy there hasn't been all that much yet. this was great. Little planes and big up drafts are either fun, or terror, depending on the person. For me it's fun - moooosssstttttlllllyyyyy ;D
We have even had two days of storms in Broome. After last year this is a very late wet. not sure if that's going to mean a late finish or what. I hope for the travelers that it's not like last year where the Gibb was shut well after the wet.

Wow, awesome video. That is a lot of water falling from the sky...

Hi Steve,
I lived through quite a few of those sort of storms when I worked at the Tanami in the late 80's to the late 90's. Bloody unreal.

Reminds me a bit of a flight I had back to Perth from Newman a few years ago just on dusk.
The Qantas pilot was flying the jet around the storms with the clouds reaching well over double our flying height. The electrical show was the most amazing I have ever seen!

I used to love sitting beside the water tank on top of a hill having  watching the dry lightning rip across the night sky over Lake Argyle just before the Wet took comand of our lives . Got asked 1 night what happens if we get struck ? Huge smokey crater l suppose & some jobs going at the tourist village ;D

Thanks for posting this.
Even though you kind of know what must be going on with a storm like this, your video just clears-up and doubts. Amazing stuff!
All the best - Wayne

Interesting that you are getting a late wet as well, because we've had to tenths of stuff all over this way. It will be interesting to see how late it finishes (once it actually arrives!).

We went for a drive yesterday around the Parry creek road(between Kununurra and Wyndham) stopping at pools and falls for a swim and were surprised at how dry everything was. Not much in the way of waterfalls! KNX had 6mm yesterday......not much. Still waiting for the wet.
