Are they going to keep going until a dingo admits fault?
30+yrs later, what do they think will change now? Fresh witness from a Emu? Maybe spy satellite photos?
What a ****ing waste of money... Suppose they dont care, they arent paying for it

I met some of the cops that were involved in the investigation once.
They didn't really inspire much confidence.
Seemed like one of those investigations done by deciding who did it and then finding the evidence - bit the wrong way round.
May be wrong of course - just a gut feeling. ???
-
When I first heard there was going to be another inquest, I thought this could go for months, with new innovations in DNA testing, recounting witness evidence etc. But low and behold, it is set down for a 1 day inquest in Darwin, at the end of February 2012. I predict, the finding will be handed down as, Azaria Chamberlain died as a result of being taken by an Australia Dingo on or about the date in question.
-
I heard they're not calling witnesses, they’re reviewing all evidence based on the learning’s from the recent dingo attacks at Fraser island.

if I ever had a dingo camper, I'd have to get the #plate
Azaria

It really is a bit of a joke, one day! No fresh evidence, except for a submission from the Chamberlain’s legal team. I wonder what the result of the inquest will be????
I think most know a dingo is capable of taking a baby, they can be very dangerous wild animals, but that still does not mean one did in this particular case.

Classic UTE 701 ;D

Im yet to see a dingo undress a baby that age and fold the clothes... lol!
Everyone knows how hard it is to get clothes off a kid that young!!
I think the only winner here is the Legal Team with another fee and publicity.

Yeah, a little too late for me I think.
A couple of mates and I were at Ayers Rock (as it was known then) camping in the same camp ground three weeks before the incident. We left a few steaks out to defrost on top of a 10ft tinnie on top of a box trailer while we went to the kiosk for an ale. Came back an hour later (maybe it was a bit longer....) to our neighbour telling us a dingo jumped up on the tinnie and offed with our steaks.
Maybe it got the taste of blood from us!!

UTE 701 thats an absolute classic, I love it.......

Might be a bit hard as the dingo will be long DEAD !!

Yeah surely we can bury the hatchet with this. I agree with Lost, sounds like lawyers desperate of finding ways to make a few bucks on a well known and contentious case.
Maybe it got the taste of blood from us!!
I'm hoping this was an observation...
Hopefully they won't round up a bunch of the local dingo population and move them to national park outside Warwick (Qld) like they did with Frazer Is. We were camping there this year and the property owner was telling me how he's trapped dingo's with the State Dept (Forrestry/Natural Resources- can't remember which one) branding on them. Its caused major damage to farmers sheep populations etc.
Don't mean to hijack, but you got to wonder the intentions behind these things, particularly with the dumb arse policitical responses that follow...

Agreed. Who cares now anyway. Lets find a new mystery to solve like, where did I put my last beer cause I'm sure it was here somewhere

next thing you know there will be an inquest into who killed Laura Palmer

Ahhh, another 'Cold Case' to solve, any excuse hey Steve? ;D ;D

If you do an inquest then they need to do it properly not one day, that's just a waste of time and money for everyone involved. Just a thought maybe someone is after a promotion for their career.

I heard on ABC radio today that the inquest was requested by the chamberlains for the specific purpose of a review into police handling of the case (sounds fair enough). I don't think NT govt has agreed to that being the focus on the inquiry...
-
The inquest is to remove all blame from the parents. They have previously been acquited but they have not been absolved. At the time that Azaria went missing there were no documented cases of dingoes attacking juveniles. Testimony was given by 'experts' at the trial that a dingo was not capable of taking a child. Now we know it to be a perfectly feasable. Further the 'blood' located in the torana later turned out to be a chocolate milk stain and rust inhibitor.
Its just a formal process to clear the parents of any wrong doing. The way things have stood was that they 'could' have been responsible but the evidence wasnt good enough.

not only get it out of the cloths, carry for miles without dragging on the ground.about 20 years ago some kennel club members myself included done a test with various dogs that were trained to hold and carry, none could go more than 600 metres with a "baby weight " before dragging.

Darren :police:
but what about the murderer peter dupas, (victoria) has been given another chance to torment the family of the poor girl he stabbed to death, so if the chamberlains want absolution or closure so what.
-
I know. What if the courts examine the media? After all remember what a circus they made of the whole matter. The media made sure there was not going to be any truly independent investigation/judgement. (Remember how the Chamberlain’s appeared to love all of the attention.)
