Not sure if I am just out of touch as I have not paid for a car service for years or if I've been robbed.
2011 hyundai getz 15000km service just cost me $248.00
Breakdown was
LABOUR $100.00
oil $52.64
Enviro levey $25.45
Misc $20.00
filter assem $25.38
TOTAL $223.47 + gst =$245.80
now as I said I am not sure if this is normal or not so I am not having a dig just curious as to what others have paid. seems alot just to change the oil.
Any thoughts

Seems par for the course for a factory service, not cheap but not over the top either. But the enviro levy is a tad high IMHO. Wait till you see the bill for a major cruiser service, you need more than $1K :'( At least the in-between ones are around the $350
Cheers

Enviro levy has gone up since late 2009. The levy charge for our last service at Hyundai was $4.40 ???
But thats around the normal price for an oil change. We got charged for a sump plug washer too $2.50 ;D
I do the oil change now that its out of warranty.

Is "Miscellaneous" lunch for the worker who changed the oil? I'd be asking what that is for. Enviro Levy I charge everyday is $11 inclusive and doesn't change. We dispose of what they use, do all the paperwork for it, provide it to them and report it to the EPA and council ... all they do is call or put things on a regular service. Yep, just a tad of a rip off there IMHO.

Isn"t 1500 KM on the house , like the first service is free to make sure it made it that far ???

Having managed a workshop a couple of years ago, In my opinion it is about right. The oil and filter are a bit high IMHO (I know what they cost a workshop), but I would think the labour is a bit lowish, Overall about right.
The miscellaneous is to cover all the little things you can't charge for separately like rags, spray lubricants, the squirt of grease put in a unit joint cause they looked a little dry (I know a getz has no uni's) and all the little things. In the workshop I was in we worked it out to be about $60-80 per day for 4 mechanics and at that time we charged $6.

With Hyundai it was a 1000 klm free service/check, But Jetcrew is talking about 15000 klm which is its first service.

Oh well at least it's ball park,
I suppose at least it was a workshop full of young kids doing apprenticships and the like so on some level it's at least keeping some jobs in OZ.
Thankfully i can service my other 2 cars otherwise I would need a 3rd job to cover vehical services.
It's been a great little car returning 6ltrs/100 . sure beats the monster at 20lts/100.
Thanks for your replies

My diesel i30 alternates between minor and major services every 15,000 clicks.
- Minor service normally around $250 ish
- Major service normally around $375 ish
Just had the 90,000 "major major" service done in October and thought it was going to cost just under a grand. I thought that the timing belt was going to need changing, but then realised that diesels have a chain rather than a belt due to the compression. That made it cheaper. In the end, every fluid and filter in the vehicle was changed (no major parts like brakes pads needed) and the whole thing came in at $785.
The environmental levy was $2.75, but where I did get ripped off was wiper blades at $25 (front and rear). i30's have a special fitted rear blade that I can't source fromm SCA.
I drive to Goulburn over going in to Canberra. Easier to book in when I want it done, and I think cheaper too - even with the extra fuel ;D
