I don't think they did!

It would appear that luck was more important than engineering design or drivers skill...

Post by: GLC on November 23, 2011, 05:41:42 PM: yep but the bike doesnt often roll on you unless you high side real bad. blows me away to think of those metal coffins slamming the lid down on you that hard and you can still get free, with the bike you dont normally role 10 or 20 times whilst trapped.

They sure took incredible risks, looks like they considered bailing out to be a safer alternative to staying with the ship!
