Title: Shaving - Secret mens business
Post by: dazzler on November 14, 2011, 07:06:36 AM
Or secret hairy womens business too!

A while ago I was given one of these as a gift;

http://www.razorpit.com/index.php?language=au

Yeah right I thought, another product from KTEL or similar.

But, believe it or not, the damn thing works.

I have been using the same five blade razor for three months. I normally swap the cartridge fortnightly at best. And having wog skin a blunt razor will leave me looking not Norman Gunston in a flash....

nb; Obligatory I own the company and am a godzillianaire  8)

Interesting. The concept seems sound.

I read some time ago that the primary reason that blades go dull is not how much work they do, but simply corrosion... and if you rinse the blade properly then dry it after each shave it will last a lot longer. I've been doing this for 12-18 months now (Mrs Squalo's hairdryer is a permanent fixture in the bathroom and 20 seconds on high does the trick) and I am getting months out of each Mach3, rather than weeks (I am a daily shaver).

After more cuts than Norman Gunston, I changed to an electric "as close as a blade or your money back"

Hi,

I gave up the shaving caper for good way back in mid 1971, and I had beards on and off a lot before then.  Never seen much sense in shaving and it saved me a packet on razor blades.

I soon went off to investigate this so called amazing product and immediately sensed that some people out there, not content with selling kitchen junk to fill up our cupboards, are now targeting men.

Then I spotted this Sharpening Disposable Razor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3Kxiom83Js#)

And I know that I'll now simply strop my razor on my denim jeans and for FREE!!!!!!  ;D

Besides which using the jeans gives me an excuse to have the jeans hanging around in the bathroom. "Why are my jeans not put away"? .........."I'll tell you why. They help me shave". That should give her plenty to think about.

On the third blade since July.  So about two months per blade.  Pretty good I reckon!

I also got some magic beans and 10million shares in Enron buddy so back off.....   ;D   :D

It seems the important thing is that the blades are wiped at the correct angle and dried after each use.

Run the jeans trick and report back.. Will be interesting!

Buggar shaving, women say that men with beards are hiding something, not me, only my ugly face. Every time i get what hair i have remaining cut i get a no2 on the beard. Every time i go to the barber (hairdressers are for poofs  ;D) i have less hair to cut yet the price keeps going up!.

Blades cut me up too so I've been trimming to .5mm for a while now with one of those electric trimmers with a digital length adjustment from .5mm up to 6mm.

Ha!!! I want one of those Gillette 3000 jobbies.

Dazzler - I had a crack at the denim jeans idea and................mmmm.

To be honest I think the razor felt sharper before I 'denimed it'. Having said all of that, the jeans now look absolutely fantastic!  ;D

Well, at least it wasn't a complete waste of time!

Quick trick - you can strop a razor on your arm. Ie, run it down backwards with medium pressure half a dozen times before you use it. It won't put an edge back on, but neither will a proper leather strop. It will flatten out any small nicks through. I reckon it makes a difference.

I gave up on multi-bladed cartridge razors years ago, and scored an old skool double-edged safety razor as a birthday present. Blades are dirt cheap (they're just razor blades, after all), they last me a lot longer, and you get a good shave to boot. Honestly, it's not as close a shave as a 5 bladed one, and you've got to take a bit longer and be a bit more careful. Overall though, I love it.

Interesting to see these razor pit things do work though - I'm sure they would have a lot of blokes (and hairy women) interested in them.

Keep us updated Dazzler and JC!

Thanks!
Matto :)
