Hi all.
Have been lurking for many months and been a member since February 2011.
I haven't inroduced earlier because, frankly, I feel like a bit of an intruder. Truth is, we have an ONroad camper trailer, towed by a Fairlane! Doesn't quite fit the mould of your average MySwag OFF Road Camper Trailer Forum Member!
But regardless, I thoroughly enoy the Forum, have learnt a hell of a lot and feel quite at home most times.
Bev and I are retired Newsagents (hence Newsman) and have had some great trips in our locally made CT.
The CT was basic, but has 'matured' through modifications. (A bit like what Symon says... 'El-Cheapo CT with lots of home grown mods')
Added 12v and 240v, 120AH battery charged from alternator through RedArc isolator (yes... 6B&S!) and 2x 100w solar Panels. Hot and cold running water with mixer tap as well as 12v pump from onboard water tank... etc. etc.
Hope you won't kick us out!

Thanks Sol... I see you're in Tully. Love Mission Beach area... IF you can avoid the rain!
We went up for Xmas/New Year about 3 or 4 years ago. Got hammered with about 10 inches overnight!! >:( >:(
Packed up wet and headed south 'till we found a dry spot! Our 1st trip there was in winter... great time of year to visit Mission Beach.

Cape Hillsborough is a great spot............we meet some great folk at a caravan park there, we usually camp National Parks but that time we stayed at the park right on the bay, non powered sites really close together just off the beach, but it meant you mingled and chatted more !!! :D

G'day David and Bev

Hi David and Bev,
I just figure the best vehicle is the one that gets you there AND back! So Fairlane or fourby doesn't matter as long as you are enjoying yourselves. Wonder how long it will be before you get the "bug" for a 4X4 though...and explore some of the more remote places on offer.

I know what you mean. I started here last Nov (2010) with a new cheapy CT & a Mitsi Lancer :-[ *lol*
I now have a Nissan X-Trail, & a (older) Cub. But that'll be it for the next couple of yr's >:D
As everyone's already stated, "as long as you're out there using it" :cup:
G'day

Not getting away as often as we'd like bobnrob, but using it we are!
Ahh... the 179 Badge. My first car. A '65 HD Holden with a 179 motor, wild plum paint, bone vinyl roof, 8track cartridge stereo, radial tyres and chrome wheels (chromies). Went like a shower of sh!t! Memories...

Hey Newsman,
Brett and I are at Gracemere ;D

I really liked seeing this come up. Good on you, as said many times it's the getting out there that counts. I have a soft spot for Fairlanes, when I was 21 I bought a ZL (1990) and it was just the coolest car to get around in. Took it everywhere with my GF and all the camping gear in the boot - we had a 1969 Kombi camper at the time (I still have it!) which we used for surfing trips up and down the coast from Wollongong, but the Fairlane was perfect for the north coast and interstate trips. Just load up the CD stacker, hit the cruise control and you're away - all standard these days but pretty cool to have in the early nineties.

G'day & Welcome.
I learned to drive in a 351 ZD Fairlane. Good on you for finally posting up, I regret that you didn't feel welcome to do so sooner.

Hello David & Bev welcome I broused the sight for quite a while before I also posted but it was worthwhile, learnt a lot and got the feeling we campers were much the same. Is your rockvegas (Rockhampton) then were neighbours were (Emu Park). We had a Fairlane way back, lovely big back seats!!!!. I hope the 4x4 bug gets you. Hono
