Title: 4wd accessory - what was it
Post by: Paul (SA) on November 03, 2011, 08:30:40 AM
I was following a Prado today and it had an accessory near the spare wheel I'd never seen before. It was mounted like an antenna, was about 2 foot high and about 3 inches in diameter. Was black plastic I think and looked like an antenna on steroids. Any ideas?

Maybe the base of a Codan HF antenna - it has a removable whip on top

It will be a codan HF radio, we even have them on the back of the police vehicles at Roma.  :police:

You too can own one for about $4k. I paid $3700 for mine in 1998.

It keeps the idiots that are on UHF away from the HF ;D . You don't find any obscene language or people squarking music into the microphone on HF.

BTW you can just make mine out on the back of my cruiser. It looks part of the post on the verandah
