Title: Preston Beach WA
Post by: Samstruck on October 31, 2011, 09:08:51 PM
Was disgusted with the 4wd hoons driving at 80km/hr + along the beach past young families this weekend.  >:(

Yep, there seems to be an increasing number of bogans on the beach around Lancelin and Preston in recent years.  Some people just dont get it, do they? They are more intent on blasting around in their beefed up bogan-mobiles with no regard for others or the environment.  And then they wonder why they close beach after beach to 4wd'ing.

We have been known to yell at them to slow down... >:(

Same thing happened at Greenough this weekend - a nice place to stay but we just wouldn't as you have to keep looking over your shoulder for runaway 4wdrivers on the beach.  There were also a lot of trail bike riders hammering along trails in the dunes.  Not a great place to relax especially with our kids. We went there about 8 years ago and had no problems.

There are so many shops selling dirt bikes and quad bikes but there doesnt seem to be any regulated places to use them. So the beaches and dunes turn into a dirt bike drag-way.  No wonder people die in the dunes every year at Lancelin.  We used to 4wd there all the time but I am now too scared that I'll have a head-on collision with a bike over a blind hill or corner.

Trick is to find those secret spots where the beaches and dunes are too short or small to attract motorbikes.

Safe beach travels everyone.

I was really close to camping at Preston Beach DEC campsites this long weekend past so I'm glad I didn't now... admittedly checking into a stupidly crowded caravan park in Busso wasn't a great deal better... oh well, at least I got to go away with the camper trailer :D

I agree with all of the above ,becoming more like a speedway, they just don't give a rats .... about anyone on the beach ,getting that way I hardly bother going there anymore,
Cheers Kebru ??? ???
