Title: What do u sit your bum on!!
Post by: watto11 on October 03, 2011, 11:22:33 PM
Hey guys chasing some info on camping chairs I'm considering buying a new chair and looking at getting on the reclines through a few positions I'm wondering if others have tried them I concern in they stay in position from the arms sitting in groves I guess I wonder how they wear and the general strength. I've had several of your normal style fold up chairs the last being a oztrail big boy but I seem to break them I'm not huge but do weigh 100kg I guess I think it must be the way I sit in them so I'm trying to go away from that frame style now I have a bit of room in trailer look forward to hearing others ideas

I too am around the 100kg mark, i notice a lot of campers using directors style chairs, but I saw one in the the style you have been using called the Oztrail Royale, nice and comfy and strong too. I have told the children to get it me for christmas!!

The only down side to the recliner type camp chairs is their size and weight when packed up.  If you have the room then splash out and get one and enjoy it's comforts.

I have this, as does my Daughter, we love them, they are insulated, so you don't get cold winds on your back if it's windy.

I had one of those chairs that can lift your legs up, it was cool but I found it sucked when you wanted to sit around a fire. Your legs would get toasty but nothing else.

Anything that looks slightly comfortable will become a seat now, logs, wild animals, small children etc.

Like Griz, it needs to pack up small and take up minimal real estate in the car/camper.

SWMBO has a very nice Companion reclining chair rated to 120kg, I have a Kookaburra aluminum deck chair with side table. The Companion is great (but I only sit in it when she is not looking ;D) I would like to get another Companion one day, I think they come in a 150kg rated version also.

bubba

I reckon, I remember seeing all of these chairs when we went camping with you - ahh the luxury of room!  ;D

I have one of the EMG Chairs, the one that 4wd action was selling. I got it for $59? at the Eastern creek show. Really comfortable. Only bad thing is it could have been about 3 inches taller on the back support. It holds me (about 112kg) and the two kids on my lap (ages 2 and 6).
